Family-Household help with FEMA applications in Barre VT

Barre Congregational Church is setting up space to help those within the community who would like assistance starting or completing their FEMA applications. Starting 7/24, assistance will be every Monday and Wednesday from 4pm–7pm in the Community Room of Barre Congregational Church at 35 Church St. The final day of the workshop will be 8/30 unless we notice a greater need within the community.

Below is a list of things that FEMA will ask for when you apply. If you don't have some of these items immediately available, don't let that stop you from starting an application.

BEFORE YOU APPLY:
Take photos of your damaged home and belongings
Make a list of damaged / lost items

Have this information ready:
Social Security Number
Annual Household Income
Contact information
Insurance information (coverage, company name, etc.). If you have insurance, you must also file a claim with your insurance
Insurance determination letter
Bank account information (assistance will be a direct deposit)
Proof of occupancy OR ownership (renters are eligible)
Proof of ID

Attention small businesses affected by the flooding in VT.

There are 12 Economic Development Corp’s in VT. Now is the time to get help from them. Central Vermont’s has a Business Support Clinic that is now stationed in the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce building. They have resources, access to grant applications and 0% loans, legal and tax support, a/c, snacks, and private work spaces.

Due to the distracting and busy construction, our office will be open on a less regular schedule. Give us a call before you come down into the construction zone to make sure somone is here, or if you are dropping something off, it can slide under our office suite door. The building is still open generally 8-5 weekdays.

Upstairs was fortunate and untouched. Downstairs is a complete loss. ShredEx was able to shred the soaked paper, and the furniture has been added to the pile of waste out front.

Our contacts with Washington and the FEMA folks are still working to determine the scope of the damage in Vermont from these storms/rain/flooding. If you have been affected, please report it on the simple form they are providing via 211. There is a form on their home page (linked) for individuals, and a form for businesses.
