Another driveway brought back to life!

This one needed quite a bit of attention. We reworked and expanded the existing driveway and parking area, cleaned up and reshaped the base, moved unwanted material and brush, then brought in fresh stone and graded everything out for a clean, solid finish.

Another driveway brought back to life! 👊

This driveway had developed some significant washouts and drainage issues that needed more than just another layer of gravel.

We started by cutting back and removing the overgrown brush to open the driveway back up and allow access for the gravel trucks. From there, we cleaned and reshaped the drainage ditch, hauled off the excess material, and completely regraded the existing driveway to restore the crown and get water moving off the driving surface where it belongs.

Once the groundwork was finished, we brought in 91 tons of #53 limestone, graded everything to the proper elevations, and finished it off with a vibratory roller for a solid, compacted surface.

A good gravel driveway starts with proper grading and drainage—not just adding more stone.

A couple weeks ago I posted a little teaser about some new equipment coming to Waymaker Excavation… well, here it is!

We’ve officially added our own dump truck to the fleet. 🚛

This is a big step for us and will allow us to handle more of our own hauling, move material and equipment more efficiently, and continue expanding what we can offer our customers without having to rely as heavily on outside trucking.

She’s an older International 4900 with a DT466, and she’s already been put to work. There are definitely some things I want to clean up and make my own, but I’m pretty excited about what this truck is going to allow us to do.

We also hired a new driver. Unfortunately, he’s only 6, so insurance says he has to wait a few years. 😂

Pond Removal Complete! 🚜🌱

This project started with a pond that never held water well due to how it was originally constructed. Over the years, it became more of a maintenance headache than an asset, making it difficult to mow and maintain the surrounding property.

Waymaker Excavation pumped and drained the remaining water, removed three trees, excavated the surrounding mounds, and used that material to completely backfill the pond. The area was then finish graded to establish positive drainage before being seeded and covered with straw.

The end result is a large, usable yard that’s much easier to maintain and blends seamlessly with the rest of the property.

Another driveway transformation completed! 🚜

This project involved much more than simply adding gravel. We started by reshaping and regrading the existing driveway, widening sections, improving drainage, and re-establishing a roadside ditch to help prevent future washouts.

We also installed two underground gutter drain crossings using 3” Schedule 40 PVC to redirect roof runoff beneath the driveway instead of allowing water to flow across the driving surface and cause erosion.

Once the drainage improvements were complete, we delivered and installed approximately 110 tons of #53 limestone throughout the driveway, parking areas, and turnaround areas. The driveway was then compacted with a vibratory roller to create a smooth, durable surface built to last.

This project began after a previous excavation attempt resulted in damage to existing utilities. We were brought in to locate and repair a damaged water line, install a new water line and electrical line, excavate approximately 270 feet of trench, and excavate additional holes for electrical splice boxes.

Excavation work often involves more than just moving dirt. Existing utilities, proper depths, drainage, and safety all play a major role in a successful project. Taking the time to do the job correctly helps prevent costly repairs and delays down the road.
