BEVILL STATE AND THE CITY OF MORRIS SIGN AGREEMENT TO BRING WORKFORCE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE NORTH JEFFERSON INNOVATION CENTER
Bevill State Community College (BSCC) and the City of Morris have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) establishing a partnership to bring education and training to the City of Morris through their North Jefferson Innovation Center.
The agreement outlines a collaborative process through which BSCC and the City of Morris will work together to identify, schedule, and promote education and training opportunities that are in-demand and beneficial to the local community.
Bevill State’s Division of Workforce Solutions is a flexible and responsive regional resource, providing comprehensive non-credit workforce development training and education, as well as customized and targeted training to business and industry for continuous employee development. Workforce Solutions is expanding their mobile workforce training, identifying and developing classes that can be taken directly to communities, thereby mitigating common barriers such as transportation and distance.
The North Jefferson Innovation Center, operated by the City of Morris, was established with the purpose of building a sustainable ecosystem of opportunity by supporting entrepreneurship, creative development, and skills-based education that enriches the community and diversifies the local economy. Boasting office suites, conference and training rooms, outdoor space, and high-speed Internet, the facility is a flexible space ideally suited for a variety of classes and seminars. The space was developed by the City of Morris with the help of grant funding from Innovate Alabama, Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, and CAWACO RC&D. Collaborators for activities and programs include North Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, Central Alabama Redevelopment Alliance, and the Impact Arts Council.

Through expanded training opportunities and collaborative efforts, this agreement will help strengthen the regional ecosystem, support economic growth, and benefit employers, workers, as well as the broader community."
This partnership highlights the effectiveness of creative solutions to maximize education and training opportunities for rural communities. Though effective use of resources and flexible delivery of services, the City of Morris and Bevill State are strengthening Alabama’s skilled workforce and positively impacting the state’s economy.
