🐢 Built-in Armor, ZERO Drama!

Meet my first-edition turtle—and only the third block I ever carved!

This little one has a special place in the MM Printing collection. The turtle was hand-carved by me and printed using traditional letterpress methods, with “Built-in Armor, ZERO Drama!” set by hand using antique lead type.

Available as a 4×6 postcard or as an individual print. Because every letter of the saying has to be handset and arranged for printing, individual prints may require a little extra time to create—but that hands-on process is part of what makes traditional letterpress special.

And being my first turtle carving, she may be a little rough around the edges...but with built-in armor, I don't think she's worried about it. 🐢

Old Type. Old Block. Timeless Words.

There’s a little more history behind this postcard than you might expect!

This 4×6 letterpress postcard features the Statue of Liberty printed from an antique printing block from the Old Time Print Shop, where I had the opportunity to learn the traditional craft of letterpress through my apprenticeship with Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts (AFTA).

The bold “WE THE PEOPLE!” is set by hand using antique lead type and printed one impression at a time using traditional letterpress methods.

Printed on sturdy kraft cardstock, each postcard carries the slight variations in ink and impression that give handmade letterpress its character.

American history, printing history, and a traditional craft carried forward—all in one little postcard. 🇺🇸

🦊 The Fox in the Grain

One of my favorite things about letterpress is experimenting with what I can print on!

These fox prints begin with a block hand-carved by me at MM Printing and are individually printed onto real wood veneer. The natural grain and variation of the wood become part of the finished artwork, meaning no two prints will ever be exactly alike.

Each print is matted and available in a variety of sizes, making it ready to frame or display.

🖤 Old Blocks. Hand-Carved Art. New Impressions.

Here’s a look at some of the larger matted artwork from MM Printing!

These 8 × 11 letterpress prints are individually printed by hand and matted for display. The turtle design is printed from a block hand-carved by me, while the historic soldier and cannon scene is printed from an antique block from the Old Time Print Shop—connecting this piece to the printing tradition where I learned the craft.

I love experimenting with different substrates, ink colors, layering, and embossing, so each print has its own unique character. Because every piece is individually created, the print you receive may vary from the examples pictured.
