Cookson Hills Electric Reports Widespread Outages
Monday, August 17, 2026 —Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative is reporting a large number of power outages following a severe thunderstorm in the area.
The Marble City and Nicut substations are currently offline, with additional individual outages reported due to broken power poles across the service area.
Crews are working to assess the damage and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Residents are reminded to stay away from any downed power lines. Even if a line appears harmless, it may still be energized and pose a serious danger.
Anyone who sees a downed power line should stay clear and contact Cookson Hills Electric to report its location.
