Wildfires are a significant issue in our region right now due to low humidity and high winds! As a homeowner, what can you do to protect your home?

FUELS REDUCTION

If you reduce the fuel, the fire will stop spreading. What fuels the fires?

🌲 Small bushes/underbrush
🪵 Dead trees

There are two fires burning in Polk County as of 10:15pm on March 19, 2025:

Black Cove Fire has burned 110 acres and is 10% contained.
No structures have been damaged at this time.
There is a voluntary evacuation off of Scarlets Mountain Rd.

Deep Woods Fire has burned 3.5 acres and is 0% contained.
No structures have been damaged at this time.
There is a voluntary evacuation off of Scarlets Mountain Rd.
This fire is located off of Piney Mountain Rd/Holbert Cove Road.

Crew finished off a final grade this week. Installed 600 ft of drainage pipe, finished the grading and placed 7 loads of gravel to give the homeowner a spacious parking area!
