Someone asked me yesterday “what can we do to help American farmers & ranchers?”

Supporting legislation that helps assist our farmers is a huge help. This was a welcome headline this am to me.

International trade puts a lot of extra $ in the hands of US farmers & ranchers to help them stay in business! It’s time our citizens & politicians start caring more about the stability of their food supply here at home before we are too reliant on other countries for our food. Currently, 50% of our fruits & vegetables come from outside the U.S.!!!!😳

I am very pleased to have been a part of the export of over 150 animals yesterday to the Ministry of agriculture of St Lucia including 4 species, 17 different breeds from 8 different states in the US. This export has been months in the making and a lot of time & effort on both sides of the pond. I am always excited to be a part of a project aimed at food security and to help distribute good genetics of livestock to breeding programs to help local farmers produce more protein faster and to help reduce food imports to their island. So many people to thank back home in the US from great producers to my isolation girls for the sheep & goats, the vets, the truckers and the great team I work with in Miami that help get them loaded and on the plane. This was a challenging export that I affectionately have referred to as “Noah’s Ark”! Congratulations St Lucia Ministry of Ag. I hope these animals have a long positive lasting impact on your island’s food security!
