Launchpad just held its first cohort kickoff right here at eMYRge.

It's a program built to take early-stage ideas and give them real structure, real accountability, and real momentum. Yesterday that work started in Myrtle Beach, with a room full of founders and a facilitator who drove four hours to make sure the first session landed right. That kind of commitment to this community is worth paying attention to.

The talent has always been here. What is growing is the infrastructure around it. Programs like Launchpad, running out of a space like this, in a market growing as fast as this one, change what is possible for the people in that room.

We're glad they're here!

Brandyn Miller is a member worth spotlighting. Being a member since 2022 means that he's seen his fair share. He was one of the first!

He runs CLEAR Message Business Coaching and Consulting. The name says it: confusion kills business. His job is helping owners get clear on what they do and find the words that actually connect.

He also has a theory worth sitting with. Most businesses treat customer experience as a finishing touch. Brandyn treats it as a competitive advantage. The small decisions add up: knowing someone's name before they walk in, setting expectations precisely, training your team in ways that feel natural but are actually intentional.

If you are a local business owner who feels like your message is not landing, it's worth a conversation with Brandyn.

Most people using AI get stuck with generic boilerplate text. Our recent bootcamp with Kiva Slade was built to fix that.

For someone like Liam Hickey, who came in as a beginner, the breakthrough was learning how to structure a real master prompt. No passive lecturing happened. Everyone in the room built prompts and got actual results for their own projects right on the spot.

When a session is dense enough that a participant leaves wanting to take the entire course a second time, the curriculum is hitting the mark. It proves that tangible upskilling is happening right here.

A handful of our member companies were all bringing on Coastal Carolina University interns this semester. Instead of leaving them scattered at random floating desks, we set up a dedicated intern workspace at the hub.

The result is a natural collision point. Now, interns from different startups are working side-by-side, absorbing real entrepreneurial agility from local professionals, and building relationships that go beyond the clock (including planning trips to Boathouse). This isn't a traditional, isolated corporate gig. It is a real working environment where local talent gets plugged straight into the center of our market.

(As the intern currently typing this out, I can officially confirm that the upcoming Boathouse trip is a critical operational milestone and absolutely mandatory for my professional development). Younifiedai Cocoflo Innovations

Next week at eMYRge is all about stripping away the fluff to tackle the actual mechanics of scaling a venture in our market. By bringing together TECH TALK Tuesday, 1 Million Cups®, and our Lean Canvas Workshop into one single week, we're giving local operators a straightforward environment to collaborate on code, stress-test business models, and exchange real growth stories. If you are working remotely, navigating the local tech scene, or actively building a business on the Grand Strand, this is where those connections become tangible.

This morning's 1MC with Jeffrey Bohn gave us a look at what it takes to build and protect a local brand legacy. Bounce Barn Party Rentals might be in the business of bringing excitement and high-quality bounce houses, chairs, and tables to local celebrations, but behind the scenes, their growth is driven by serious logistics and operational discipline.

As a family-owned business, Jeffrey and his team are tackling the unique friction points of a coastal market... prioritizing safety, clean equipment, and absolute reliability so their customers get a seamless experience every single time. It was a powerful breakdown of how focusing on customer satisfaction and consistent ex*****on turns a simple service into a long-term community anchor.

Next week, the Launchpad Incubator officially kicks off with 20 promising startups ready to build right here in Myrtle Beach.

This isn't a generic business overview class or an abstract lecture series. Over the next twelve weeks, these 20 teams will have structured proximity to resources, hands-on frameworks, and a room full of other builders who understand what it actually takes to scale an operation locally.

While the founder cohort is locked in, we are still looking for the right leaders to help them navigate it. Applications for regional mentors are still open. If you have scaled a company, managed complex logistics, or navigated a technical architecture and want to guide the next wave of local momentum, we need your voice in the room.

The application link to become a Launchpad mentor is pinned down in the comments.

Last week’s Present & Pitch workshop was a reminder of what happens when you skip the lecture and focus on actual application.

Led by McKean Nowlin, the room shifted into 3-5 minute pitches, giving local founders and professionals a hands-on space to refine their real narratives with immediate, structured peer feedback.

This isn't about theory or death by PowerPoint; it's about real people in a supportive environment doing the work to own the room.

Something has shifted when you can look at the same room on two different mornings and see local builders attacking completely different angles of growth.

This week moves from the raw, operational logistics of scaling a family-owned service business in a coastal town right into a tactical framework for building internal AI knowledge bases for nonprofits. It's proof that tech and startup activity here isn't a theoretical concept... it is just real people in a room doing the daily work of building.

If you are working remotely, navigating the local tech scene, or building a business in Myrtle Beach, this is where those connections become tangible.

Yesterday’s Lean Canvas workshop used a lot of Post-it notes. Like… a lot.

After the session, Julio Alvarado showed up with bags full of them because he wanted to help support the work happening at eMYRge.

That kind of gesture means more than people realize.

The Myrtle Beach area’s innovation economy is being built through people who show up, contribute, and help move ideas forward however they can. Sometimes that looks like mentorship. Sometimes it looks like making introductions. And sometimes it looks like walking in with thousands of Post-it notes so the next workshop is ready to go.

Grateful for people like Julio who continue to invest in the people building here.
