Presenting at the Dallas Safari Club Nacogdoches with Dr. Kroll, was Andy McCrady, Texas A&M Forest Service - Program Coordinator for Prescribed Fire. Andy finished his Master’s degree under Doc’s Supervision several years ago, conducting a landmark study of deer behavior never before done! The study was sponsored by the Deer Channel headed up by Tom Brooks in Stephenville, Texas. Andy and the research crew (Scot Roebuck and Roger Elston) at Deer Channel placed transmitting video cameras on Bucks using a proprietary attachment system developed by Deer Channel. For the first time, we were able to watch what bucks were doing every minute in their lives! Andy did a great job on his Master’s research! We accumulated hundreds of hours of video from the study bucks! Since then Andy has had a distinguished career at the Texas Forest Service, now as the wild fire and prescribed fire expert for the Service. Doc is proud to have been his major professor! The old videos are stored on an outdated format system, but Doc decided to attempt to recover the footage! Hopefully we can post some in the future!
