Worried about your DR/DA metrics for SEO?
Don't.
These slides show you stats for 3 of my client sites vs. 3 very similar sites.
My client sites have average/low DR because we don't prioritize that metric.
But these competing sites have fewer actual visits on average.
[I'll let you decide which one of those metrics is more important.]
Now, let's talk about WHY "domain ratings" are so misleading. ⤵️
DR/DA is a nice vanity metric that actually means very little — it's a rating system developed by tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush, not by Google.
➡️ SEO tools use this number to offer a very broad picture of the quality of a website or web page based ONLY on links.
Their "authority" score doesn't take ANY of these factors into account:
🔵 Website quality/design/speed/UX
🔵 Content quality
🔵 Existing organic hits
🔵 Sitewide topical authority
Guess who DOES consider these factors?
GOOGLE.
In conclusion:
Stop focusing on metrics that don't matter. Start paying attention to how your traffic is serving your audience and growing your revenue.
