Most contractors do not own a business. They own a job that pays them.

The phone stops ringing if you stop answering it. Estimates only happen at night. Cash flow tracks your personal labor instead of the business. A 2-week vacation would put the whole thing in danger.
Sound familiar?

The fix is not working harder. The fix is building the systems that run the work without you.

Pricing systems. Estimating systems. Cash flow systems.
Most contractors never build them because they are too busy doing the work.

DM me “SYSTEM” and I will share the framework we use with our clients.

McKinsey confirmed it in a congressional hearing last week. $1.2 trillion of American capital is ready to deploy into infrastructure, manufacturing, and development. It can’t move. Not because investors won’t write checks. Because permits, environmental reviews, and regulatory gray area have ground the process to a halt.

Our $50M motorcoach resort in Cheatham County is one of the stuck projects. 3.5 years into permitting. Still waiting on the Army Corps.

We’re one of tens of thousands.

Here’s why I’m still optimistic.

When this unlocks, and the Sackett ruling plus the EPA’s new WOTUS direction say it’s starting to, America will need trade businesses at a scale we haven’t seen in a generation. Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, concrete, earthwork, framing, specialty mechanical. All of it.

The bottleneck won’t be money. It’ll be capacity.

The trade businesses that win the next decade are being built right now. The ones that are organized, systemized, AI enabled, and financially disciplined are the ones that will capture this when it lands.

Follow along. We’re documenting the build.

Most contractors don’t have a business. They have a job that pays them.

If you disappear for two weeks and the whole thing falls apart, that’s not a business. That’s self-employment with extra steps.

The book Traction by Gino Wickman breaks down the 6 components every real business has in common. Most trade businesses are missing 3 or 4 of them.

I walked through each one in the slides. The framework is simple. The discipline to actually run it is where most owners stop.

If you want to see which component is the weakest link in your business, DM us TRACTION and we’ll send you the 6-component assessment built for trades.

Most contractors are using AI wrong.

They ask it questions. Generic questions. And they get generic answers.

What I built is different. A real AI system wired into my actual numbers. My concrete cost. My crew rate. My overhead. My target margin. So when a new job comes in, I don’t start from scratch. I run it through a system I already built.

90 seconds. Full cost breakdown. Minimum bid at target margin. No math errors. No missed costs.

The concrete example in the carousel is real math at real Middle TN rates. Most contractors bidding that job would have come in at $9,500 and congratulated themselves for winning it. They wouldn’t realize they lost $2,150 in profit until the job was already done.

That’s the gap. Most contractors are using AI like a search engine. A handful are using it like a business partner.

This is what I build for contractors. Custom AI systems that know your trade, your pricing, and your estimating logic. So your bids stop being guesses.

A CFO does not just report the numbers. They use them.

There is a difference between having a bookkeeper and having financial leadership.
A bookkeeper records what happened. A CFO uses what happened to decide what to do next.

Should you take that job. Should you raise your prices. Should you hire. Should you buy that truck. Should you turn down work that is below your margin threshold.

Every one of those decisions should be backed by data. Not gut feel. Not what the guy down the street charges. Data from your own business.

That is what we bring to trade contractors. Not just reports. A system that turns your numbers into decisions.

If you are making business decisions without real data behind them, DM us. We help contractors build businesses that work. That starts with knowing the numbers and using them.

Your financials should tell a story a buyer can read
A CFO keeps the books clean. Not for the IRS. Not for the bank. For the business.
Clean financials mean you can see exactly where every dollar went on every job. You can show profit and loss by month, by quarter, by project. You can prove your margins are real and consistent. You can show that the company is not dependent on one customer or one person.
That matters today because it helps you make better decisions. It matters tomorrow because it is the first thing a buyer, a partner, or a lender asks for.
If someone asked to see your financials right now, would you be proud of what they saw? Or would you need a month to clean things up?
We help trade contractors build financials that tell the real story. If yours are not there yet, DM us.

The best time to get a CFO is before you think you need one

Most trade businesses wait until they are in trouble to get financial help. Revenue is dropping. Cash is tight. Margins are thin. Then they scramble.

A CFO is not a rescue plan. A CFO is the reason you never need one.

The companies that scale well in the trades are the ones that build financial systems early. They know their numbers at $200K in revenue so that by the time they hit $500K or $1M, the foundation is already there.

We work with trade contractors starting at $80K in annual revenue. You do not need to be a big company to run like one. You just need the right system.

We offer fractional CFO services built specifically for the trades. Traction for operations. Profit First for finances. Real data behind every decision. Starting at a price that works for small contractors.

If you are growing and you feel like the business side is not keeping up with the work side, DM us. That is exactly when to start.

A CFO reviews every bid before it goes out

In a well run company, no bid leaves the building without the CFO signing off on the numbers. Not the scope. Not the timeline. The numbers.

Does this bid cover our true cost. Does it hit our target margin. Does it account for overhead. Does it account for the risk on this specific project. If the answer to any of those is no, the bid gets adjusted before the customer ever sees it.

Most trade contractors send bids based on what feels right or what they think the customer will accept. That is how you win jobs and lose money at the same time.
We build estimating systems that answer all four of those questions automatically. You plug in the job. It tells you your floor. You never send a bid without knowing your number first.

If you have ever finished a job and realized you did not make what you thought you made, DM us. That is the problem we were built to solve.
