Genealogy gone bad: I found myself on Findagrave today! Someone created a memorial for my ex-husband who died in 2012 and also created a memorial for ME based on what, I'm not sure. We divorced in Apr 2000 and he used this as the date of my unfortunate demise! The memorial has since been removed as I wrote to the owner convincing him I'm very much alive. 😂 (Unrelated pic for attention.)

In April, I was pleased to present a book I created to Pastor Mary Martha of Hephatha Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The book contains the biographies of 5 congregants of this church who were killed in WWII (one was my Uncle Clarence Raduechel). While researching for the War Memorial Center's Honor Roll Project, I learned that the church had a bronze plaque memorializing the men, and this book will soon be placed nearby, providing context to their lives and sacrifices. (Special thanks to my friend Terry Johannes for tipping me off to the plaque's existence!)

Visited Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee to pay my respects to a friend and also to find the grave of a WWII soldier I just finished researching for the War Memorial Center Honor Roll Project.

Gave a presentation today at Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake Senior Residence and although only a handful of residents attended, they seemed to enjoy learning about genealogy resources they have at their fingertips. I was even able to help one lady locate her grandparents' detailed obituaries and their final resting place. Looking forward to doing more such presentations!

Day 1 of Rootstech 2025 (genealogy conference) is nearly in the books. I attended virtually, but learned something new in the first 5 minutes! Looking forward to Day 2.

Experts believed there was only one surviving ancient Indigenous mound in Milwaukee. Now, two rediscovered mounds bring that number to three.

In May, I visited Milwaukee's Union Cemetery looking for many of my relatives and mostly struck out. Recently, another Findagrave contributor located my Aunt Hermina's headstone (photo previously posted), and also the headstone of my Uncle Edward Mestyan, who died at only 3 months of age.
