Ground prehospital providers respond to all types of emergencies, including aviation accidents.

Life EMS Ambulance, Inc. started its blood program a few weeks ago and provided this lifesaving intervention after a small plane crashed in Michigan.

Life EMS used a pre-hospital blood program for the second time in West Michigan after a plane crash, significantly aiding two victims injured.

Somebody asked a great question about how current blood donor shortages are going to impact the fielding of dried plasma.

I know it sounds counterintuitive, but Blood Centers have plenty of access to plasma and can manufacture/sell it in its various forms (LP, FFP, Dried Plasma). Modeling shows they can currently meet a large prehospital demand for plasma without disrupting collections.

National-scale prehospital transfusion will require coordinated EMS-hospital rotation, major donor recruitment for LTOWB, and targeted investment. A hybrid LTOWB-LP strategy may provide the most feasible path to broader implementation.
