I have a belief that Rudy’s is the most consistently delicious breakfast taco shop in New Braunfels. So much so, that the ladies at the counter know my daughter by name. They also know that I’m a tax professional, and this morning while I waited for my order, we talked through the new “no tax on tips” and “no tax on overtime” deductions. It was a really fun conversation; it’s amazingly gratifying to help people understand taxes.

Avoid owing the IRS extra taxes!

If you are a small business owner, remember to make your quarterly estimated tax payments. The fourth quarter payment for 2025 is due 1/15/2026.

Why not just pay when you file? To avoid the Underwithholding Penalty. That’s right - the IRS will charge you interest on the interest-free-loan you failed to give them.

What is an estimated payment? It is the pre-payment taxpayers make when their withholding will not cover their tax bill. This is most often self employed folks, but if you took out a large distribution from a retirement account or sold stock at a profit, you should check with your tax pro to see if an estimated payment is appropriate.

TAX EXTENSION DEADLINE SEASON
**Please note that if your business filed as a S-Corp or Partnership, they are due
Sept 15th. Since it is only 7 days away for the filing deadline for these types of returns we due have a rush order fee of $500. All documents need to be in the Intuit portal by the end of business day TUESDAY, 9/9/25 and an email needs to be sent by end of business day, today, MONDAY, 9/8/25.
If your business files as a C-Corp or Sole Proprietorship the filing deadline is Oct 15. However, all documents need to be received by September 30th.
