✨ Pay them.
You get paid for your expertise.
They deserve to be paid for theirs.

Youth-led work means youth-compensated work.
Anything else is tokenism dressed up as engagement.

At the Volunteer Delaware Conference, I had the opportunity to lead a powerful conversation on what it means to move from tokenism to true power.Too often, we invite people into the room, but forget to change what happens inside it.
Leadership isn’t about position, it’s about participation.

And when youth, volunteers, and community members lead alongside us, that’s when transformation begins. That’s the shift we’re sparking through Péste Strategic Solutions Group (PSSG) — from Leadership Labs to ADVISE and CURVE — creating spaces where every voice leads, every contribution matters, and every partnership transforms.
🟧 It’s time to move from tokenism to transformation.
It’s time to shift how we serve and lead.

Last week, I had the privilege of presenting at the Volunteer Delaware Conference. If there’s one thing I reminded every room I walked into, it’s this: We can’t keep calling it volunteerism if the people serving aren’t truly empowered to lead.

After the success of the Next Level Youth Summit with 250+ young leaders, it’s time to take things further with Youth Leadership Collectives that inform educators, government officials and nonprofits on real issues like legislation, policy change, and community priorities.
