The BIG FUN Brass Band was founded by 9 Music Education majors from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. While all of the members of BIG FUN are classically trained, they are no strangers to jazz music. Many of the group’s members are lead instrumentalists in multiple jazz ensembles at Southeastern, including Jazz Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II, and Jazz Combos. The group’s members are constantly striving to combine the in-tune, well-polished sound of a classical ensemble with the impeccable style of a Dixieland group, or the powerful sound of a New Orleans Brass Band. Growing up around New Orleans has taught the members of BIG FUN what it’s like to use music to make people dance, laugh, or even follow the leader. That is why it is the goal of BIG FUN to bring the relaxed environment and good times of New Orleans to weddings and festivals all over Louisiana.
