I couldn’t help but wonder… when did I become the girl who cleans her plate?

Once upon a time, there was always something left behind. The burnt ends. The pizza crust. The chicken skin (okay… I still don’t fool with that). And don’t even let my mac and cheese touch the barbecue sauce. That was grounds for immediate discomfort.

Turns out, the sweet belongs with the smoky. The creamy needs the savory. Each bite makes the next one better.

Maybe that’s true outside the dinner table too.

Like my daddy always says, “It’s all going to the same place anyway.”

And somewhere between growing up and growing into myself… I stopped separating the good parts from the messy ones.

Turns out they were always meant to go together. 💋

Kenji might’ve just secured a permanent spot in my dinner rotation 🍸🍣✨— I enjoyed my first visit so much that I came back within 12 days of them opening so that tells you everything you need to know.

From the ambiance to the hospitality to the freshness of the fish, the experience felt elevated, intimate, and intentional. The crab rice? Fantastic. Specialty rolls? Absolutely worth ordering. And my Lychee Lemon Drop disappeared so fast it almost offended me.

What stood out most though was the hospitality. Seeing Malachi, one of the owners, personally greeting guests at the entrance throughout the night was such a beautiful thing to witness. It’s always refreshing when management is both present and genuinely invested in people having a good experience.

And ending dinner with a sweet little treat from a local bakery? Very classy. Very New Orleans. We love a little lagniappe. 💋

Proud to support Kenji’s second location and hoping the city continues showing them love. Definitely add this to your date night / girls night list.
