In 2026 alone, there have already been more than 20 reported cases of men killing multiple members of their own families in the United States. And not once did I think, “Poor him. What was his mental health like? What was he going through? What could his wife have done differently?”

No. I looked at the person responsible for the act and held him accountable for his actions.

So help me understand the double standard. When a man kills his family, we rightfully hold him responsible. But when a woman kills her children, suddenly people start searching for a man to blame?

I am beyond disturbed and disgusted by the “Same, Lindsay” trend I’m seeing across social media. You can have compassion for someone’s mental-health struggles without shifting responsibility onto another person when there is no evidence that person was involved.

Mental health absolutely deserves to be discussed, and it should be discussed whether the person responsible is a man or a woman. But discussing someone’s mental state is not the same as excusing their actions, nor does it justify assigning blame to somebody else without evidence.

Accountability cannot change depending on the gender of the person who committed the act.

If we demand accountability when it's a man, we have to demand accountability when it's a woman. The standard has to remain the same.

This one really hurts. Rest in peace to the legend, Mr. Tim Curry. When I'm not giving advice, I love watching movies, and he was one of my favorite actors. From Clue, Legend, It, Home Alone 2, and of course his legendary performance in Rocky Horror Picture Show. This man was a gift to us all, and he'll be missed at the Rude Advice home.
