Over the past two years since the pandemic started we have witnessed as an industry the rise of technology and how the bridal industry adapted, from QR codes, zoom weddings, digital invitations to hybrid events and more. Now we are introduced to an entirely new technology. How about taking your entire bridal party into the metaverse? But wait, what is metaverse exactly?
In Metaverse, users can experience augmented reality, virtual reality, holographic avatars, video, and other forms of communication. You will be able to coexist in this hyper-real alternative world as the metaverse expands. Metaverse may be a work in progress at the moment but a couple from India Dinesh Sivakumar Padmavathi and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy decided to use this as a way of hosting their reception of 2,000 guests to beat the covid pandemic restrictions. Aside from being able to invite all of their guests they would also have the chance to incorporate an avatar of the bride’s late father and will be included in the program.
On December 10 last year 2021, the New York Times (NYT) reported about Traci and Dave Gagnon, another couple who didn’t just host a reception but also walked the aisle in the metaverse.
The entire experience of a metaverse that only few understand will truly change the bridal industry scene. The possibilities of having an event unfettered by the bounds of reality is not that far from our imagination anymore but what does it mean for us wedding professionals? How would this impact the bridal industry, from wedding planners, florist designers and more?
Let's take a deep dive into the metaverse this coming Thuraday, 10am EST at Clubhouse. Click the link in oir bio and join the conversation!
