Everyone wants better results.

The question isn't, "How do I get better results?"

It's, "What system needs improving to create better results?"

That's where the real work begins.

Over the years, I’ve worked with countless property management business owners and leaders, and one thing has always remained true: the biggest breakthroughs rarely start with a new system, a new hire, or a new strategy. They start with a shift in thinking.

The way you approach challenges, opportunities, change, and growth shapes every decision you make. A strong mindset creates resilience during difficult seasons and clarity when it's time to take the next step forward.

Invest in your thinking, challenge your assumptions, and stay open to new possibilities. Often, the most powerful transformation in business begins long before any action is taken.

There are moments in your career that feel like a true full circle, and the Harcourts HX26 conference in New Zealand was one of them.

I had the privilege of presenting two sessions, one to the Harcourts leaders and the other to property managers at this year’s conference, an experience that carried a deep sense of nostalgia, belonging, and pride.

Many years ago, I was part of the original journey shaping property management within the Harcourts group, supporting franchises and building the foundations of what it is today. To be invited back, not just as a guest but as a contributor, was incredibly meaningful.

Standing in those rooms again, sharing insights, challenging thinking, and connecting with so many passionate professionals, reminded me of just how special this industry is, and how much growth comes from staying connected to where you began.

A heartfelt thank you to Jodine Clark, Jo Clifford, Mike and Irene Green, and especially Maryanne Sheehy, who has always believed in me, supported me, and been my most constant and loyal cheerleader.

Grateful for the opportunity, the conversations, and the warm welcome back.

At HX2026, I shared a message that clearly struck a nerve with the room.

So many property managers are spending their days stuck in ex*****on mode — chasing emails, following up tasks, remembering processes, and carrying workloads that were never designed to rely on memory alone.

This presentation was about something bigger than technology. It was about redesigning the way we work so talented people can spend more time thinking, leading, solving problems, and building stronger client relationships.

Because success in property management doesn’t come from being busy. It comes from clarity, visibility, consistency, and systems that support people instead of exhausting them.

The conversations after this session were some of the most meaningful I’ve had in a long time. Clearly, this industry is ready for change.

What’s one thing your team would do better if there was more clarity around it?

In my experience, the strongest businesses aren’t always the busiest ones — they’re the ones with clear communication, consistent processes, and teams that know exactly what success looks like.

A small improvement in process can completely change the way a team operates day to day. Less confusion. Faster decisions. Better results.

It’s funny how one book, one moment, or one decision can completely change the direction of your life.

For me, that moment came when I read Awaken the Giant Within. It challenged me to think bigger, trust my instincts, and recognise that property management wasn’t just a career path — it was where I was meant to be.

Years later, I still wake up passionate about this industry, the people in it, and the impact we can make through strong leadership, service, and innovation.

Sometimes the smallest spark creates the biggest future.
