⚠️ Disclaimer: This flyer was not created by NMDP. It was created independently because I believe this is something more of us need to know about—and talk about. 💙
We often hear about donating blood, donating organs, and other ways we can help save a life. But I don’t think enough of us realize that we could be the exact person someone is waiting for when they need a stem cell transplant. 🧬🏾❤️
And this is especially important in the Black/African American community.
For Black/African American patients, the chance of finding an 8/8 matched available donor is about 29%, compared with 79% for White patients. 💔
Think about that for a moment.
Someone could be waiting.
Someone’s family could be praying.
Someone could be hoping that somewhere out there is a person with the right genetic match.
Our communities are underrepresented in stem cell donor registries, which makes finding that match even harder. But this is one area where we can actually make a difference. 🙌🏾
Joining the NMDP Registry starts with a simple cheek swab. If you’re between 18 and 35, live in the U.S. and meet NMDP’s health requirements, you can register online and have a FREE swab kit mailed to you. 🧬🏾

Whether eligible or ineligible, you can still help. Share this post. Send it to your children who are 18+, your siblings, nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, church family, and anyone else who may be eligible. ❤️
Because sometimes saving a life doesn’t start with something complicated.
Sometimes it starts with a decision to be available.
You never know… you could be someone’s match. 🫶🏾
Be the match. Be the hope. Be someone’s second chance. ❤️
