🌈💡 What could your organization do with $15,000 to strengthen LGBTQI+ communities?

Destination Tomorrow’s LGBTQI+ Mini-Grant Program is open, and we’re investing in the organizations already doing the work.

We’re looking for innovative, community-led projects across New York State that address the Social Determinants of Health. From housing and healthcare to food security, education, economic opportunity, and community support.

We especially encourage applications from:
✨ Grassroots organizations
✨ BIPOC-led organizations
✨ Multilingual agencies
✨ M/WBEs
✨ Organizations serving communities that have historically faced barriers to resources and opportunity

Together, we can invest in bold ideas, strengthen local leadership, and expand access to the resources our communities deserve.

I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to serve as a guest judge .

If Friday felt like a dream come true, Sunday felt like a dream realized.

I entered Ballroom at a time when many of us were considered the “degenerates” of the q***r community. The respectable, elite Black gay spaces often had no room for those of us who came from broken homes, poverty, incarceration, addiction, or other circumstances that made us “too much” to embrace.

Ballroom became our refuge. Our family. Our place to dream.

So to watch Ballroom represented on the Tony Awards stage, to witness and receive a Tony Award, and to see make history—it was a powerful moment.

But if I’m honest, it also left me with mixed emotions.

How is it that a culture built by poor Black and Brown LGBTQ people can generate so much value, yet so few of the people who carried that culture on their backs benefit from its success?

For decades, Ballroom has influenced fashion, music, language, entertainment, and culture itself. We have created trends, built stars, and shaped movements. Yet too often, others profit from our brilliance while our community continues to struggle for resources, opportunity, and ownership.

Visibility is important.

Representation matters.

But ownership matters too.

Ballroom, it’s time to own our story, own our platforms, own our institutions, and own our future.

It’s time to own our s**t.

This journey with you has been incredible. From navigating marriage to building a life focused on breaking generational curses, you’ve always shown up fully and our family is better because of it.

So why would motherhood be any different?

The way you mother our son, the way you somehow make time for him, for me, and for yourself no matter how tired or overwhelmed you may be should honestly be studied.

You make things happen for our family. Full stop. And I love that about you.

No matter what you’re carrying, you still give us your best. That kind of love, commitment, and strength doesn’t go unnoticed.

Thank you for the gift of our son.

You are an amazing mother, and I can’t wait to watch the bond between you and our little boy continue to grow. He already loves his mom to the moon and back… but honestly, he comes by that naturally, because I do too.

Last night, I had the honor of being featured in the Fox special Celebrate Black History, hosted by Antwan Lewis — alongside notables like Jimmy Jam and Chaka Khan.

Yesterday started off rough, and honestly, I’m still processing parts of it. But ending it this way was truly dope.

Watching the special today, seeing personal photos I’ve never shared before, and hearing the passion I still have for my community made something crystal clear:
I’m walking in my purpose.

I am Black History!
