WHY IS NYC MOVING TO COMMERCIAL WASTE ZONES?

New York's commercial waste system is changing — but there's a bigger idea behind the new map.

NYC divided the five boroughs into 20 Commercial Waste Zones, with three carters authorized to provide curbside service in each. According to DSNY, the program is designed to improve service, establish new safety standards and reduce harmful emissions associated with waste hauling.

Brooklyn North businesses: October 1 is coming.

NYC’s Commercial Waste Zone program begins rolling out in Brooklyn North on October 1. Businesses will have through November 30 to enter into a new agreement with an authorized carter, with the zone fully implemented on December 1.
