Just got back from 2 weeks up in
Got some very needed mountain healing up there as always. 🗻💛 I haven’t really painted in years, and never with oils. So I figured I’d do something new-ish and make a painting of a really sweet summer memory.
This is the final result. Much gratitude to Hambidge for always been there as a place of solace and solitude.

After a 5 year hiatus, returns with “Way of Life” - a (mostly) local film screening!
The vibe is fairly light-hearted, doc-style short films about grandfathers, clowns, mutual aid and acts of resistance.

The event is at .atl a new community art space brought to you by the same folks who built our original home

ATL filmmakers will be in attendance for a Q&A.
Also in attendance will be several local mutual aid orgs!
Doors at 7p.

Line Up - 46 minutes runtime

“I Signed the Petition” by Mahdi Fleifel. [10:31]
Immediately after a Palestinian man signs an online petition, he is thrown into a panic-inducing spiral of self-doubt. Over the course of a conversation with an understanding friend, he analyses, deconstructs and interprets the meaning of his choice to publicly support the cultural boycott of Israel.

“Proximity Study (Sight Lines)” by .m.webb (ATL) [5:40]
Proximity Study (Sight Lines) is an attempt to measure closeness despite temporal distance. Webb’s grandfather (whom she never met) worked as a longshoreman on the Brooklyn waterfront. Webb filmed the docks on 16mm film and rowed in the channel between camera and subject. The physical film print trailed behind, reaching to bridge the distance.

“Buster’s Onion” by (ATL) [9:59]
As a grandfather’s mysterious surgery draws near, he and his wife contend with what their 50 years of marriage have come to.

“Kingdom of Humor and Fun” by .tv (ATL) [7:16]
The world’s last great clown teacher seeks pleasure before the end.

“Olive” by .omel (ATL) [12:38]
“Olive” is a short documentary that follows on her daily routine of salvaging, repackaging and redistributing food, and occasional other types of “waste”, across Atlanta, GA.

Hope to see you there!

Much love to for including our film in the Edinburgh Pitch this year. We got to present our story about the struggle to stop cop city alongside 11 other incredible film teams, and had our first opportunity to talk about the film in a public forum an ocean away from our home.

One of the best parts is the generous support we received from the team at the institute. They really care about the work they select, and it shows in the curation, the preparation and just the overall vibes of the entire event. Highly encourage friends to apply for this opportunity in the future!

Also Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿is great - awe inspiring nature, people are so kind, and also overwhelmingly pro Palestinian 🇵🇸 everyone I met hates the King and loves to sing songs about armed resistance!

My grandma passed away last night.
I grew spending summer days on her farm.
The last time I saw her in person was 2017. I saved up some money and flew to Ukraine for a month to be there with her for her 70th birthday. It was my first time spending time with her as an adult.
I was mostly being unhelpful, mostly following her around with my first camera, watching her go through ever repeating motions of tending to her land and home. Occasionally asking her questions.
“Grandma what can you tell me about this land?”
“What I can say about this land? The land is the land is the land”
It’s hard to put into words the experience of spending that summer with her. All I can say is she was my grandmother, and I was her grandchild.
While I was there I felt that eternal love. And for that I’m so grateful. It’s something I carry in my heart even if hers is no longer beating.
I’ve shared my film about her with most of my friends already, but if you haven’t, or want to watch it again, it’s available now on my Vimeo now.

You know her, you love her, maybe you’ve even gotten bread from her. One of my favorite people, is the star of my new short documentary “Olive”. It premiered at and plays next week at . I shot it last October as part of the program and documented Olive as she flows through her routine of redistributing food throughout Atlanta.
Thank u to for doing the sound design work on the film.
