Random: The Soil & The Seed

Premature Praise stunts growth because the person will feel like they've arrived having accomplished very little; Deferred Praise stunts growth because the lack of recognition is discouraging and causes the person to withdraw their best efforts.

What we should all strive for is a circle (SOIL) that offers Intermittent Praise with Constructive Criticism. The praise let's the person (SEED) know they're on the right track; the criticism let's them know there's still work to be done. This collaboration, when properly communicated and understood, is what helps the seed reach it's greatest level of visibility, influence and impact. This is not only true for business, it's the absolute truth for life!

So many of us have been taking care of people so long that we have no idea who we are now everyone's all grown up (And it's terrifying!). You're still trying to flex and mandate (maybe even manipulate) like you've done in the past, but it doesn't have the same effect. As a result, tensions rise which brings separation all because you refuse to see/hear the adult you raised.

Check It: They will always be your child, but they're no longer your baby; They will always consider your advice, but no longer need your permission; They value your wisdom but are yet determined to own their own decision. They, my dear parents, have become everything you taught them to be, now it's time for you to find yourself!

Yes my friends, it's time to put what was behind you and embrace the freedom that comes with what's next. My brothers and sisters.. IT'S Your Time To Live. All the care, motivation and education you poured into others, pour into yourself! Why? Because you put your life on hold in order to raise a family; You have sacrificed many of your dreams and aspirations for the greater good of the family.. so now that they're all grown, pick up from where you left off and LIVE. You've done your job and you did it well, Now give yourself permission to live! We good? Cool, you're welcome!

Speaking of humble beginnings: I remember practicing my presentations in an empty conference room. I persuaded myself that I can convince empty chairs to listen, I can sell whomever sits in them... I'd much rather that process than someone giving it to me.. because the lessons you learn about yourself and others along the way are absolutely priceless and in my case QUALIFY me to MENTOR others.

Your brand, your product, your story is YOUR RESPONSIBLITY. No one told you to go into business, hence no one owes you anything. So, roll your sleeves up, remain teachable, perfect your craft and prepare for your next Big Opportunity... We good? Cool, you're welcome!
