Hey there!

I’m Jesse, co-founder of Third Act, a new company dedicated to helping small business owners.

If I learned one thing after spending 15+ years listening to, learning from, and advising hundreds of American small business owners through my marketing career and non-profit work, it’s that there is no singular path business owners take to get their dream outcome. And that’s pretty amazing!

However, there are also a few less-amazing challenges that I consistently heard from small business owners about the difficulties they face as their businesses age.

“𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨.” 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 for the asset they’ve likely spent the longest time investing in — their business.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬, 65 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚. 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 75.” American small business owners are working longer than ever (though many seem perfectly happy with that shift).

“𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤…” Study after study shows that 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗶𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲, for small business owners. But other seemingly small tasks like finding new software or building up a consistent social media presence can eat into owners’ time and priorities at the expense of business health, too.
