Conflict is our friend. ❤️

Wait. I’m not going to go that far!

I used to avoid conflict like the plague…at work, with my family, with my internal debates whether to go to the gym or not!

But then I learned that conflict heightens energy. That shared energy between people brings clarity. Working towards clarity builds connection and that connection and lead to deeper trust.

I’m still exploring my relationship with conflict but I will say in the past year I have gotten a lot more curious about it and am better at exploring its value in different parts of my life.

Them are fightin’ words!!

There are so many ways for us to talk about our practice and how we serve clients. It really comes down to understanding the clients goals and objectives (regardless of what they call our work!)

I’ll be honest, call me old school, but I am resistant to be lumped into the “entertainment category” with giant scrabble games and roving robots.

I love helping people see themselves through their own stories and connect with others. I love it when they come back to see “their drawing” because it speaks to their experience not just a dopamine hit before happy hour.

I don’t discredit art as entertainment….I freakin’ LOVE it in the right context….the question is, what is the context and what is the goal clients hope to achieve.

Burnout isn’t a personal failure. It’s a systemic problem.

Right now, many teams aren’t burned out because they care too much or lack resilience.

They’re burned out because the environment is depleting them.

Unclear priorities.
Feelings of unfairness.
Isolation and lack of community.
Work that feels disconnected from meaning.
A lack of alignment between personal values and organizational values.

Leading right now is heavy.

This week, we heard leaders say things like: “I have to make space for my team’s emotions while still keeping the work moving.” and “It’s exhausting, and I’m trying to stay grounded enough to really listen.”

That honesty matters.

When things feel uncertain, listening is not just about communication. It’s about care, trust, and helping people feel steady enough to move forward.

Here’s a small shift that makes a big difference: give everyone a clear turn to speak.

When people know they will not be interrupted, something changes.
• They listen more closely.
• They think faster.
• They use fewer words.
• Their ideas land with more clarity.
It sounds simple. It IS simple. And it changes the energy in the room almost immediately.
