Whats that thing they say "We make plans and the Universe laughs"? Well the minute I put "Authentic Voice" on its feet I have gotten busier and busier. Its a constant reminder to remain as authentic myself as I can. I can't work with others on it if I don't remain real too. It's so much more then I expected and I'm so grateful to have to live up to what I'm "preachin"! :) Workin in Chicago, St Louis, NYC and Savannah this summer. Reach out if you'd like to set something -more gratifying then you might expect -up with me. For you, your company, or even a group of like minded folks who just want to speak, communicate and proceed as authentically as we can. Personally and professionally...I think I'm on to something!

You can't speak authentically if you cant feel authentically. Sounds reasonable and at the same time it remains the million dollar question as the truth about what I'm feeling (past the reactionary) is indeed who I am. Big thoughts I know. But, connect the dots and keep it simple. If I like what I do for a living enough to get up and do it a few to too many days a week, then I have thoughts and even feelings about it. So how do I take those feelings (hopefully even passions) and translate that to who I am speaking too? Food for thought :)

These days I realize that being encouraged to speak "authentically" is changing even life long friendships. I;ve made it my business to help people speak like themselves. I insist with both heart and skill that you come from a brave truth to support that authenticity but politically talking our truths- no matter what they are- is stirring up all kinds of trouble in communications. My job is to continue to define what Authentic Voice really is- both the workshops to help you with your public and professional speaking- and the human to human contact which is also its first building block. I don't have all the answers yet, but I know that being yourself takes a lot of guts and knowing that, I'm pretty sure that being yourself -on purpose- is going to have to come with a few things like responsibility and integrity. (a nice smile and/or a good sense of humor are good too!) :)

As a singer and long time performance coach I expect your emotions to be part of our work. Part of my work. There is a particular bravery you cant get to any other way that builds the strongest type of foundation for any public communicator. But I admit it took me a bit by surprise- when I began these small public speaking "Authentic Voice" workshops-when at a high level Ad Agency a group of extraordinary execs/creatives broke into tears within the first few minutes of our session. Now, I'm no longer surprised when workshops get...well...emotional. It proves time and time again that breaking ground always comes first if you are going to build something sturdy and real!.
