It is a terrific feeling to be able to do something that feels meaningful to support a cause I care about. I am fixated on the health of our rivers and no organization works harder than Columbia Land Trust to protect and defend the extraordinary land and rivers that run through the Columbia River Gorge. You can go online and bid on gorgeous work that has been created and donated by local artists to help support this worthy cause. Columbia Land Trust. Protecting what cannot be re-created. Today ..... while happily working, I dropped my scissors which fell down through my warp, cutting two warp ends on their way to the floor. 😫😫😫
Not a happy event. But repairs were made and I continue to weave the area along the Columbia Hills ..... and Rock Creek. Onward and upward.

Meanwhile, back on the Columbia as we pass the John Day River. The cold water refuges have ended and we pass Pushpum ......

Meanwhile, back on the Columbia as we pass the John Day River. The cold water refuges have ended and we pass Pushpum ..... a sacred site being encroached upon by all manner of looming data centers and "green energy development". Can it be that we are once again ignoring Native sovereignty and treaty rights, all in the name of "green energy"? Is history repeating itself?

In my life as a colorist, I often gave presentations@at sales meetings and other events where I talked about teaching yourself to be an "observer". And when you hone your observation skills, you will be blown away by the color that surrounds us. Once you start noticing color, it is impossible not to be inspired. But you have to open to looking and truly "seeing". So the next time a dragon fly lands on your hand- check out its crazy eyes ...... in my mind, a perfect shade of blue! Dragon Fly Blue!

I have slowly made my way past Catherine Creek and the Klickitat and The Dalles. The cold water refuge on the Klickitat is the last "cold" place the salmon can rest before they head up the ever-warming river. But I have reached the end of this section. The hem is neatly woven in and now there are all those pesky ends to be woven into the back. Slow and steady wins the race.

"Belonging Otherwise" and "Columbia River in VI Sections" joins the work of three women artists - Charlie-Anne Hopkins, Epiphany Couch and Kristie Strasen. Each piece in this dynamic installation inspires and provokes consideration on many levels. The Gorge community is fortunate to have a show that presents ideas worth contemplating. Up through the end of October at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, this show does not disappoint.

"Columbia River in VI Sections" is getting a second run as part of an exciting show at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. The show will be up through October but come for the opening on this Friday, September 4! Hope to see you there! Big shout out to all the people who helped make this happen! Oso&Co Creative; Cole Goodwin; Tim Harkins. And in the main gallery is "Belonging Otherwise" - a powerful installation by artists Epiphany Couch and Charlie-Anne Hopkins. SUPPORT THE ARTS!
