"Belonging Otherwise" and "Columbia River in VI Sections" joins the work of three women artists - Charlie-Anne Hopkins, Epiphany Couch and Kristie Strasen. Each piece in this dynamic installation inspires and provokes consideration on many levels. The Gorge community is fortunate to have a show that presents ideas worth contemplating. Up through the end of October at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, this show does not disappoint.

"Columbia River in VI Sections" is getting a second run as part of an exciting show at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. The show will be up through October but come for the opening on this Friday, September 4! Hope to see you there! Big shout out to all the people who helped make this happen! I have one word: PROUD
I am extremely proud to have been invited by these two awesome artists, to join them in a show at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River this September and October. There is a lot to read here, but take a minute to learn about what I consider to be an important exhibition.

If you missed seeing my work last summer at the Columbia Gorge Museum, you have another opportunity. I am honored and humbled to be a part of a compelling two-woman show in the main gallery of Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. "Belonging Otherwise" - an installation by Charlie Anne Hopkins and Epiphany Couch will be both provocative and beautiful. "Columbia River in VI Sections" will be installed in the lobby and add to this important narrative. Please join us at the opening on Friday, September 4. The show will be up for 2 months so if you can't make the opening, make sure to stop in.

A lot going on here. I am slowly moving east along the Columbia River ..... getting into the desert colors for my PDX piece. And then there are the framed tapestries for a show next spring. Stay tuned.

Work on my Portland Airport piece is underway. "From the Pacific to the Snake" will follow the Columbia River where it forms the border between Washington and Oregon. All the significant tributaries will be included, along with the dams and the cold water refuges. The cold water refuges have gained critical importance as places for the salmon to cool down on their long journey upriver. Sadly, industry and all forms of development - including data centers, are warming the river to such a degree that it is becoming too warm for the salmon. These amazing fish literally hopscotch their way up the river, resting and lowering their body temperature before continuing their journey through the too-warm water that has been the super highway to their spawning grounds for thousands of years. (Opening - Fall 2027 - PDX)

"The Pacific to the Snake - a Columbia River Tapestry" is starting to take shape. The planning phase is arduous - research; maps; charts; more research; conversations; getting it all down on paper; color; color transitions; more research; tributaries; dams; cold water refuges; Tribal perspectives; more research. But ultimately, I love every minute of the process!

Monochromica is a very cool publication ..... each issue focusses on a single color and presents various art work reflecting that color. I was lucky to be accepted into the "Yellow" issue with "Tiny Stars", a layered tapestry that gives a peek of yellow. Pure wool - yellow dyed with coreopsis flowers! LittleWeavingsCo.
