NOTICE... for those of you claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and/or the Additional Child Tax Credit, and waiting for your IRS refund:
Your refund will not be released until mid-February.

Information concerning projected deposit dates will not begin to appear on “Where’s My Refund?” until February 19, 2022.

NOTE that Refunds will not be delayed if the return is claiming the new refundable child tax credit and is NOT claiming EITC.

Are you planning to file your 2012 tax return early and worry about geting your refund? Yes, there will likely be tax refund delays again this year. Because of the delays in resolving the fiscal cliff and the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) the IRS is already warning about significant delays.

According to a letter from the IRS Commissioner, there could be a delay again this year.

The IRS has also announced that it will start accepting returns containing Form 8863 (Education Credit) beginning on Thursday February 14.

The IRS had previously delayed acceptance of returns containing these forms until it was able to reprogram its computer systems due to late changes made by the U.S. Congress. The remaining forms that have been delayed by the IRS will be accepted beginning the first week of March. The IRS says it will announce a specific date for these remaining forms later.
