If that was true, I would have had him in 1986 and there would have been no Miss Mississippi nor Miss America would have been for me!! LAWD!! So, CORRECTION YA!LL!! He is 30 ....30. years old today!!

This is the 15 year anniversary passing of one of my dear and beloved soul sister friends, the incomparable Teena Marie aka LadyTee! She was an awesome friend, protector and confidante!! She looked out for those she loved! I remember being down and out and how she came to spend Christmas with me because I was so depressed! She knew how to make you feel appreciated and loved and she she always showed me that sisterly love!

I've cultivated some wonderful relationships through knowing her..as I met her while singing backing vocals for another awesome vocalist, The wonderful Freddie Jackson !! He brought her onstage to sing with him, and I was totally besides myself to see one of my idols standing on the same stage as I, just a few feet away!!! Little did I know that after the concert, she would be waiting on me, to give me her info-for me to give her a call! I was even more ecstatic when she asked me to start singing bgvs for her. Little did she know that I was her no. 1 fan, and at the age of 15, I'd put together a band for the 1st time in my life, at MossPoint HighAlums H.S. just so I could sing her song "Young Love" onstage live!!

Teena was NOT just a singer! She was ALSO a fierce songwriter/producer AND poet!! THAT girl could play several different instruments STRONG-from keys, to guitars (bass/lead/rhythm), to the saxophone and, her favorite, the percussion drums: (Congas/D'jembe'/ Bongos/timbales)! She loved her bandmates and gave us all a chance to SHINE "Six Feet Away" onstage-Right there beside her!! Why?? .Because that was just who she was!!! Confident in knowing NO ONE could ever STEAL her shine and CONFIDENT in knowing that when she called on you better SHINE on whatever high level you bringing yourself!!! She loved showing her band and her singers off, and she loved showing her support!!

A Tribute to my late father, Norman H. Seawright, Sr.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to my Awesome Dad, affectionately known as "Shaft" (when he wasn't looking/listening)! :). My father was from NewPort News, VA. He was a Radar Repairman Civil Service Worker for the Air Force in Biloxi, Mississippi. He actually met my mom, Mommie Jimerson , when he was in the Air Force. They would later marry and had 8 children together: Momma Deborah Seawright Fagan , Cynthia Seawright , Cookie Seawright
Aka Marsha Johnson , Phyllis Seawright, Norman H Seawright Jr. ., Roderick (RIP) Andrea Seawright, Tina Seawright and Toni Seawright

We grew up in an area of Moss Point, Mississippi called Jackson Park! We lived right next door to Maronald Mcdougle 's family and down the street from Sharon Caples McDougle and her family! We had 5 dogs; Friskie, Papoose, Duke, King & Blackie! Junior, aka Norman H Seawright Jr. would do a Tarzan yoddle everyday to fetch them for dinner, and they would hear it and come-a-running! Yep!! Just like LASSIE!! We had 5 Lassies!! LOL :)

My father was a brilliant man!! He actually saved my life when I was about 6 years old. I was next door at the McDougle's and started choking on one of the strawberry Barrel Candies from back in the day! (Ya'll remember those?? REAL GAGGERS!) I loved those candies. But NOT after I almost choked on one. I was choking and was trying to tell Ms. McDougle that I was choking and she was in the kitchen cooking! I didn't think I had time to explain to her that I was choking and decided to leave and walk through the path that led directly to our house. The candy was lodged in my throat. So, I carefully power-walked home. As soon as I entered the door my Dad KNEW I was in trouble! The look that I had on my face, he KNEW that I was in a bad way! My Dad snatched me up, turned me upside down, beat my back real hard and that piece of candy came-a-tumbling out of my mouth and onto the floor. Not to be defeated by that candy, I picked it up and ran into the bathroom, got a wet washRAG, wrapped the candy inside it and crushed it with a shoe and ate it!! LOLOLOL. YEP!! My dad saved my life! Our family cat of 18 years has passed away. We're so very sad as Garfield was a major part of our everyday lives. Those that knew him, knows that he was a kind and sweet old fellow. I'm not okay. , and I have been inconsolable at times..and it comes and goes in waves.

The loss of a pet is so devastating. I'm loss beyond words and all I think of are memories of him. Garfield was a gift to a six year old by our good friend . We thank you Samuel, for giving us Garfield who literally changed our lives for the better in soo many ways.

I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Garfield saving my life.

I was in a master's program and was studying for a midterm. I was sitting at my desk, and I felt extremely tired and exhausted from studying. I wanted to put my head down and take a quick little nap in between studying, and before the fellas got in from school. BUT GARFIELD!!?? Garfield would NOT let me rest!. Everytime I put my head down, he kept touching and nudging my leg! He wouldn't stop meowing, and I was like, "Garfield!! Come on, Dude! Let me rest for a minute! What's the matter??.. I gave you water..I gave you food! Let me take a nap!" Garfield would not stop. Suddenly, the doorbell rings, and I run down 3 flights of stairs to get a package. When I got back to the landing of my apartment and opened the door, Gas hit me hard in the face. And there was Garfield standing at the door looking at me like he was saying, "I was trying to tell you!! An eye onbtge stove was leaking gas. and was about to take BOTH me a b d Garfield. I picked Garfield up and from that moment he and I really bonded even though he was Khalil's cat..lol

We had several episodes with Garfield this week, and he finally passed away peacefully, in the whee hours of yesterday morning.

We want to say thank you for all of your condolences and prayers. This hurts. I never knew that a loss of a pet would feel this way. We thank God for Garfield's life and his existence. I Thank God for allowing us to have him in our family He was, indeed a very sweet old man and we're going to miss him forever.

RIP Garfield!

My beloved family Cat of 18 years, passed away yesterday morning. I am NOT okay. This hurts so bad! Garfield was my Sun..my brother..my friend. I'll always love and remember the warmth, comfort, and sweet compassion and companionship he brought to me and my Suns.

Garfield was his name, and we will always love him just the same. Losing a pet is sooo heartfelt and hurtful. Garfield meant so much to us..and still doea...thank you all for reaching out to us. and and myself have been inconsolable ..and it comes in waves. We are thankful for the lives that Garfield touched and for everyone who knew him and wished him well.

RIP GARFIELD!! You really were TALL and STRONG! 🙏🏽💪🏽
