Helyer’s canvas becomes a battleground where distorted faces and fragmented bodies interact, offering a visceral exploration of the human psyche. Utilizing a rich palette, she constructs intense, emotion-driven narratives that echo the depths of personal experiences and societal observations. A graduate of the University of Brighton and the Chelsea College of Art, Helyer has exhibited extensively in London, as well as in Brussels and Los Angeles

�⁠�Across performance, sculpture and paintings layered with fabric, Tschabalala re-assembles everyday life. ‘Composite characters’ draw on chance encounters in city streets – particularly those of Harlem, New York, where she grew up constructing exaggerated portrayals of female bodies using a combination of materials reflecting her own experiences and cultural attitudes toward race and gender.
