Not my strongest year.
Not my happiest year.
Not my fittest year.
Not my most productive, or most fun.
Not smooth, or easy, or gentle or fancy free. None of it.

Instead, this year was about learning to grieve. Learning to do the hard fu***ng work that gets done inside. Learning to exist in the many imperfections life can throw at you. About learning how to keep your head up, when you feel incredibly down.

This year was about endurance, strength and remaining grateful.

To be frank, this year kicked my ass. What is cool about this year, is that here I am on this last day where I couldn’t begin to list everything we went through … yet still me. Still hopeful. Still joyful. Still ready to laugh, because it’s a bit unbelievable. Still surrounded with love.

Ready for a new era, a new story, and certain that there are many bright moments to come. ❤️

You’ve heard the term, “hair-apist” but have you ever really thought about what that means to the person who works with you from behind the chair?

This caregiver and creative often has a dual role in your hair experience:

First, we are here to help you explore and realize your vision of beauty and create it.

And second, we are your friends, entertainers, listeners, and often your reprieve from the challenges of life.

We love this role. We fight - we work so hard to be the absolute best at it. We wouldn’t do something else because we found our home in this role, and the joy it brings.

The truth is, when the world gets challenging and weird as it has been lately, the more transparent we are that we need a bit of a favor from you. . .

Be intentional with the energy you bring in the room.
Be intentional with the energy you bring to our time together.

You may have never considered it, but when you work with 4-10 people a day, at a certain point, there is a repetition in the trends of conversation. The news and stresses of the world slide in with each passing guest. Their anxiety, their perspective on current events, on repeat hour after hour, each day.

We start excited, determined to live in the inspiration of this job, and far too often, by the end of a day, each person has laid their stresses upon us; we, in turn, are completely deflated.

We don’t even want to say the C-word or give it more space here (we can agree, it has taken enough space from us all already), we want to ask that when you come, when we are together, let’s live in an intention to be, talk, enjoy, create and flourish in anything else.

Bring us your joy, your story about your new niece or nephew, your dream trips, your big news, your love affairs, your work stories, your favorite new movies…

We promise to do the same. This should be a reprieve. We all know, it's been rough. We also know there is so much good, and we love our time with you. Let's make it the best time because we will be safe, present, and joyful together.

We appreciate every single one of you and your ability to hear this with the love we intended. Thank you for being our hair fam

Almost 39 meant it was time for my first laser. I did a and I do see a difference. (I'll post an after photo to my stories) My skin is more dewy, even and clear.

Things to know:

I was red for about a week.
I peeled like crazy.
I didn't wear makeup for a week.
It wasn't cheap, so results definitely felt important.
I read a lot of reviews before I went in.
I had a paid consultation before my appointment.
I didn't actually go home gross and bloody, but you do have to leave plasma on your face overnight.
I warned my husband before I got home. 😂

I love, love, love to hear about non-surgical beauty hacks. . .

This is hard to hear but did you know that your business is constantly shedding? This is the nature of business.

Nothing drives me crazier than when I see someone say "no longer accepting new customers. Nothing makes me nuttier than when I see someone say.. "not currently hiring".

You've just said to the entire world that you are unprepared for what is next.

Yep, I said it. You've just closed a door that should in fact stay open for the duration you are in business.

Why? Data shows us that the average salon is shedding 30% of their customer base A MONTH. What does this mean?

This means, someone is moving away, someone is dragging their feet, someone is going to another stylist, etc. Even the most fully booked artists should never stop gathering leads, building waitlists, and replenishing their business IN advance (before things slow down, because if they don't, then trust me, the slow down is coming).

For the business owner, this means that we do not own our teammates. As hard as it is to hear, your team could leave you at any moment. We can love them up, we can help them grow, we can do everything in our power to help them stay... but someone is moving away, someone is going to a new job, someone is opening their own business.

So what do we do? We plan again. We stay OPEN for growth. We meet, we network, and we never close doors. Because we know the truth, we are all experiencing some shedding right now, even as we read this.

We never get cocky where we are - we stay ahead of the needs of our businesses. We plant the seeds that will grow later.

Because good or bad, you reap what you sow.

This is for the ones behind the scenes that make our lives better. My MVP Marcella isn't on social media, but that doesn't mean I get to pretend I do it all. Her visits to my home and our salons, literally make the difference. She is Minnies all time favorite person and she puts most of us to shame with work ethic and positive attitude.

This is your reminder post, if you have a Marcella in your life, go overboard to say THANK YOU. The really good ones are hard to find and so often overlooked. Our community is so lucky to have her❤️
