There’s something special that happens when communities come together with a shared purpose.

This year, HRTS Associates New York was proud to partner with AIM (Asian Americans in Media) for a happy hour mixer celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month and bringing together professionals from across media and entertainment for an evening of connection, conversation, and new opportunities.

The event was a reminder that networking isn't just about exchanging business cards; it’s about building genuine relationships, supporting one another, and creating pathways for future collaboration.

In fact, we already know of at least one attendee who secured representation from a talent agent through a connection made at this event. Seeing tangible career opportunities emerge from a community gathering like this is exactly why these partnerships matter.

A huge thank you to AIM for their collaboration and for the incredible work they do to build and empower communities, advance leaders, and champion diverse stories and perspectives throughout our industry.

Last night, we’ve officially launched the very first 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨: a new ongoing initiative designed to foster stronger relationships, collaboration, and cross-pollination opportunities not only across our membership, but between boards nationally with first edition being: HRTSA NY & JHRTSA NY.

The first edition was a structured and curated speed networking session led by the chairs.

We began by going around as a full group, with each board member sharing who they are and what they do. We then moved into two sub groups rotating networking rounds centered around meaningful questions:
- What are you working on right now and what challenge are you currently facing? How can this group help?
- Who are you hoping to meet at this phase of your career, and how could those connections also support HRTS as an organization?

The evening ended the best way possible; organically continuing conversations over drinks and building new relationships. Thanks to HRTS - Hollywood Radio & Television Society 🫶.

Happy to already share a few tangible outcomes from just one night:
• A director connected with an agency opportunity
• A filmmaker connected with a film festival opportunity

For the Associates NY chapter, one of our biggest priorities over the past months has been onboarding, community driven individuals to our board to foster long term sustainability, fresh perspectives, and continued growth within the community. We’re excited to welcome 11 new board members following our latest board cycle. (Details published on the hrts.org website)

This cycle saw record breaking applications, the highest in the last 6 years, reflecting our campaign, main focus, passion and momentum driving our chapter forward. If you are a community-driven entertainment professional looking to make an impact, keep an eye out for board applications opening this fall. We are hoping to onboard another 15 to 20 board members.

HRTS Associates New York is partnering with AIM (Asian Americans in Media) for a happy hour mixer honoring Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, an annual U.S. observance in May recognizing the diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of AANHPI communities. This gathering brings together professionals across media and entertainment for an evening focused on connection, representation, and shared momentum across the industry.
