The Apollo Theater is hiring an Artistic Director to lead the curatorial process that fuels the organization's year-round artistic programming. Reporting directly to the President & CEO and managing a team charged with curating a wide range of events, including new work development and artist residencies, this executive will shape the planning for all of The Apollo’s venues.

For more than ninety years, The Apollo has been a proving ground for brilliance and a home for Black artists. When it reopens in early 2027, it will operate a full campus for the first time, encompassing six distinct venues, including multiple performance spaces, new streaming capabilities, an expanded publicly accessible lobby, and a café. The new Artistic Director will steward The Apollo’s legacy and envision what the organization will continue to be, in terms of artistic exploration and presentation during this new era.

Every transition is a turning point for an arts organization. That was the heart of Tom O'Connor's session at the Spektrix Arts Innovation Summit, where he joined Kit Ingui of Williamstown Theatre Festival for a conversation about leading through organizational change.
