Desi Rainbow Families and AAPI New Jersey have organized with local and state groups including New Jersey Safe Schools Coalition on two important community events.

They are asking for allies to come out and support Edison Trans and Non-binary and all youth. The Edison BOE last month suddenly moved to abolish Policy 5756 without community and now local community is expecting at the October meeting it will be up for second read to abolish. Removing policy 5756 harms all students and families.

Edison community has one of the largest populations of persons Asian American cultural identity.

Desi Rainbow Families is hosting a a Protect Trans Kids Rally 10/27 2pm and are asking for folxs to please come out and support Policy 5756 at the 10/29 BOE meeting at 6:30pm. Meeting starts at 5:30 but goes into executive session.

SUPER excited for this premiere on PBS, check it out! No Straight Lines, has played film festivals around the world, including the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival.

The film focuses on five pioneering q***r comics creators. In addition to Bechdel, there are interviews with Rupert Kinnard, Mary Wings, Jen Camper, and the late Howard Cruse. Through their stories, we get a fresh angle on q***r history, taking us through 1970s liberation movements, the AIDS epidemic, the growing q***r representation in mainstream media, to today’s webcomics, graphic novels, and even Tony Award-winning musical adaptations.

Even though director Vivian Kleiman had read comics as a kid, she didn’t have much knowledge of the medium beyond that.
