Steve Acevedo has provided over 15 years of service to the musical instrument industry, cutting his teeth as Assistant Operations Manager for Guitar Center in Carle Place, New York in 2002. From there, Steve moved on to the position of Assistant Manager for Murphy's Music in Melville, New York before finding his true calling in the instrument repair and restoration field. hy, Steve began learning to repair and restore the violin family of string instruments including viola, cello, and double bass. Honing his skills in several shops throughout Long Island, New York as something of a repair journeyman, Steve moved on to work with and learn from Barrie Kolstein's fine team of Luthiers at Samuel Kolstein & Son while training Jeff Saltzman's team of String Technicians at International Music Cafe in Baldwin, New York. After a stint at Jack Rinaldo's J&B Musical Instruments in Oakdale, New York, Steve returned to help run Bob Murphy's Violin Shop, where he has flourished for the last five (5) years. While tackling every string repair and restoration job imaginable for the fine people of Suffolk county and beyond, Steve also serviced the workload of five (5) school district string repair programs including Northport-East Northport Union Free School District, South Huntington UFSD, Cold Spring Harbor UFSD, Half Hollow Hills Central School District, and most recently, the Farmingdale School District. Steve is excited and impassioned to be bringing his many years of experience, relationships, and overall finesse in the musical instrument repair and restoration industry under one roof at the newly christened repair center known as Steve Acevedo String Shop and Instrument Repair (SASSAIR).
