Speak Your Inspiration: Find Your Yoga Voice!

Speak Your Inspiration: Find Your Yoga Voice! Courageous Mentoring for Yoga Instructors and Instructors in Training Yoga changed my life. When I was in teacher training I was stuck. I wanted to teach SO BAD.

I am guessing that it also had a pretty significant impact on yours if you chose to get trained to teach it. But admittedly, the road to “feeling okay” on the yoga mat has been challenging. If you are anything like me, you are easily paralyzed by your thoughts and just as equally “stuck” when it comes to breaking through that. Yoga had brought me so much freedom in my life and I could not get the

words out if my life depended on it. I was sick to my stomach overanalyzing and pushing myself down for not being able to speak in front of the room. Truth be told, I was in a teacher training class of actors and dancers and most of the people already had training in how to talk in public and how to be in public. I didn’t. I was the girl who did not speak in class in college and I found it was so hard to speak in front of a yoga class. I eventually got out of my hole and was able to teach classes confidently. It was one of the hardest, but most rewarding life lessons and it bled into all areas of my life making me a more confident, stable person. If you are a teacher or a teacher in training and are having trouble getting the words out: I can help you if you are having trouble taking all the lessons you have learned and speaking in front of a class. I want to help YOU while you are going through it.

Tonight my Mama is laying in a hospital bed being held cool by machines as her heart heals. Surreal.
On the wall in her office, little analog notes are taped all around that I'd never noticed; this quote just knocked me down and then picked me right back up again.
Prayers and Angels welcomed. To the ones already at work, we feel it.

Never underestimate the power of your voice, your perspective, your uniqueness. That inexplicably divine cocktail of skills, perspectives, strengths and quirks is a one-time event in the Universe. There never has been, nor will there ever be, another you. So yes, you matter. And yes, the world really does need that special gift that only you have.

If I ask you, “What do you want out of life?” and you say, “I want to be happy and have a great family and a job I like,” it’s so ubiquitous it doesn’t mean anything.

"Seeing when you justify yourself and when you blame others is not a reason to criticize yourself, but actually an opportunity to recognize what all people do and how it imprisons us in a very limited perspective of this world. It’s a chance to see that you’re holding on to your interpretation of reality; it allows you to reflect that that’s all it is—nothing more, nothing less; just your interpretation of reality." - Pema Chodron

"The basic ground of compassionate action is the importance of working with rather than struggling against, and what I mean by that is working with your own unwanted, unacceptable stuff, so that when the unacceptable and unwanted appears out there, you relate to it based on having worked with loving-kindness for yourself. Then there is no condescension. This nondualistic approach is true to the heart because it’s based on our kinship with each other. We know what to say, because we have experienced closing down, shutting off, being angry, hurt, rebellious, and so forth, and have made a relationship with those things in ourselves." - Pema Chodron
