& Martin’s wedding is what happens when you let the setting do some of the design work.

At Hummingbird Nest Ranch, they leaned into natural colors, organic textures, and loose white-and-green florals that felt completely at home among the trees, stone, and brick. A flower-lined ceremony aisle gave way to an open-air reception with layered neutral linens, warm wood, candlelight, and just enough structure to keep everything feeling polished.

For Heidi, it was exactly what she hoped for: “Everything was better than I could have ever imagined and felt so us.”

And Martin may have summed up the energy best: “Saturday felt like an elevated version of the types of parties and food events we love and constantly attend. It was St. Tropez, Mallorca, Istanbul, and other cities combined. But on steroids.”

Natural, elevated, and made for a really good party.

They chose not to do a first look, making Carly Hoffman’s walk down the aisle with her dad to “A Million Dreams”—and Thomas seeing her for the first time at the end of the aisle—one of the most emotional moments of the day. 🤍

Staying at Château de Sannes with close friends and family made the celebration even more meaningful. They’ll forever remember being announced as the new Mr. & Mrs. Weisel, dancing, dipping, twirling, and kissing through the cheers of their guests—a moment Carly says “still gives us goosebumps.”

The château itself became part of their story, from its gardens and fountain to its resident swan, which they incorporated into their stationery and guest gifting. Carly has always believed cardinals are messengers from heaven, but because they aren’t native to France, the swan became their symbol instead—a reminder of the loved ones who couldn’t physically be there but were still part of their day.

The question that helps you find the right photographer probably isn’t the one you think to ask.

The best consultations aren’t about checking boxes—they’re about discovering whether a photographer is the right fit for you.

We turned to our community to uncover the questions they wish every couple would ask.

Charleston got a different love story.

Jocelyn Morris and Will embraced everything we love about a classic Lowcountry wedding, but instead of following Charleston’s traditions alone, they wove in meaningful pieces of Jocelyn’s Mexican heritage to create something that felt entirely their own. Set against the historic William Aiken House, Southern charm met a traditional mantilla veil, a mariachi band that filled the gardens with music, and thoughtful details that celebrated not only two families coming together, but two cultures finding a place within one celebration.

Can we all agree yellow deserves more love at weddings? 💛

This Italian editorial makes the strongest case yet. Golden draping frames the ceremony before flowing into the reception through gathered tablescapes and sunny florals, creating a celebration that feels warm, vibrant, and full of life.

“Planning our wedding as an active duty military family taught us that so much is outside your control,” share the Silvia and Andrew. “By the time our wedding day arrived, we didn’t want perfection—we wanted everyone we loved in one place.”

That perspective shaped every decision. They let the beauty of the Palm Springs estate lead, creating an atmosphere that felt warm, inviting, and like an elevated backyard dinner party rather than a formal production. From caviar and champagne to a family whiskey tasting, a choreographed first dance honoring the bride’s upbringing, and a DJ set led by the couple themselves, every moment was designed to bring people together.

After navigating deployments, postponements, and the unpredictability of military life, the greatest luxury wasn’t the setting—it was finally getting to celebrate it together.

Maddie Ealy & Ken wanted every part of their wedding to feel like a piece of their story, but one moment held a meaning they never could have anticipated. Months before the wedding, Maddie and her dad filmed their father-daughter dance at the venue. After he passed away just two weeks before the wedding, they shared the video with their closest friends and family. “It was the perfect way to include my dad in our special day.” 🤍

That same deeply personal approach carried through the entire celebration. Travertine from their backyard remodel became name plates and part of the seating chart, their high school yearbooks from when they first met were displayed at cocktail hour, and of course, their dogs were included. As Maddie shared, “We wanted our guests to feel like they were stepping into our world and celebrating us.”

They also wrote a personalized letter to every single guest and placed it at their table setting—a labor of love that their friends and family are still talking about.

And to end the night, everyone gathered around Maddie & Ken as they danced to Adele’s “I Drink Wine,” the song that inspired their wedding, singing together at the top of their lungs. “It was the perfect way to soak in every last second of our wedding night and one of those moments we wish we could bottle up and relive forever.”

“We love NYC, and we wanted the evening to feel like one big, giant love letter to each other, our friends and family, and our city.” That mindset shaped every choice, right down to a signature scent that filled each room and an after-party at one of their favorite neighborhood spots. As alexhallacy and JC put it, “Your guests will have such a better experience if the night reflects the two of you.”

New York wasn’t just the location—it was the guest of honor.

We’re hiring a Weddings Editor.

We’re looking for someone with an exceptional eye—and there’s a good chance other people have told you that too.

You notice what works, what doesn’t, what feels fresh, and what feels just slightly off. You understand how images work together, how a story should move, and how the smallest choices can change the way something is seen.

You might come from editorial, publishing, photography, fashion, design, art direction—or somewhere else entirely. Wedding industry experience isn’t required. Taste, curiosity, editorial instinct, and the ability to get things done are.

This is a part-time, remote role (approximately 20 hours/week) with the potential to grow alongside Carats + Cake.

If the way we see feels familiar to you, we’d love to hear from you.

Know someone with an incredible eye? Send this their way.
