This one needed a full Green to Clean cleanup AND a pool closing on the same day 😳💚❄️

After treating the water with flocculant, we let all that dead algae and fine debris settle to the bottom so we could come back with one of the most satisfying parts of pool cleaning:

Vacuum to waste. 😮‍💨💦

Once the pool was cleaned up, we went straight into the winterization process.

✔️ Floc treatment
✔️ Dead algae and debris settled out
✔️ Vacuumed directly to waste
✔️ Brushed and cleaned the pool
✔️ Prepared the water for closing
✔️ Blew out and winterized the plumbing
✔️ Secured the pool for the off-season

Watching all that debris disappear in perfect vacuum lines is satisfying enough…

But getting the pool cleaned up and closed properly in the same visit made this one even better.

It’s officially time to say goodbye to the Orange Pool for the season 🍊👋

We’ve cleaned this thing up, brought it back to clear water, and now it’s time to properly winterize everything and put it to bed.

But there’s one problem…

We’re currently 0–2 with this pool opening clear the following season 😂

So now the question is:

Will the Orange Pool finally open clear next year… or are we going 0–3? 👀

Today’s closing process includes:

✔️ Cleaning and preparing the pool
✔️ Balancing the water chemistry
✔️ Blowing out the plumbing lines
✔️ Winterizing the pump, filter, heater, and equipment
✔️ Plugging returns and protecting skimmers
✔️ Adding winterizing chemicals
✔️ Installing the winter cover

We’re doing everything we can to give this pool its best shot at a clean opening next year.

But if history tells us anything… we may be seeing orange again 😂🍊

Drop the shock and watch it work. 💥💚

This green pool needed a serious chlorine treatment, and once the shock hits the water you can literally watch the cleanup process begin.

The algae doesn’t disappear instantly, but this is where the transformation starts:

Off to an absolutely great start today 😂

First pool of the day and apparently last night’s storm decided this patio umbrella belonged in the pool ☂️💦

So before we can even start the normal pool cleaning, I’ve gotta figure out how to get this thing out by myself without turning it into an even bigger mess 🤣

This pool had a serious yellow mustard algae outbreak on top of already being completely neon green 😳💛💚

Mustard algae can cling to walls, steps, shaded areas, and pool equipment, which means you have to be thorough if you want to keep it from coming right back.

Our cleanup process included:

✔️ Heavy brushing of walls, floor, steps, and corners
✔️ Treating the pool specifically for mustard algae
✔️ High-dose chlorine shock
✔️ Cleaning and sanitizing pool equipment
✔️ Running filtration and circulation continuously
✔️ Vacuuming out dead algae and settled debris

This one looked absolutely radioactive when we started, but with the right treatment plan we were able to get it moving back toward clean, clear water.

Today we’re making the perfect pool recipe 😮‍💨💦

First, add a few bags of salt for flavor. Nobody likes bland pool water.

Then sprinkle in a little garlic to keep the vampkids away after sunset. Very important.

Next, brush the floor gently to tickle the pool and make it laugh.

But don’t brush too hard…

You don’t want the pool to p*e itself.

After that, let the water rest for 15–20 minutes so it can think about what it’s done.

If the pool still looks upset, compliment the coping and tell the filter it’s doing a great job.

For extra clarity:

✔️ Salt for taste
✔️ Garlic for vampire prevention
✔️ Brushing for emotional support
✔️ Shock for motivation
✔️ Chlorine because apparently we still have to do our actual job

Blue dye? Nope — that’s algaecide. 😂💙

During this Green to Clean transformation, we added a concentrated algaecide to help attack the algae and get this pool moving in the right direction.

The bright blue color definitely makes it look like we’re cheating the transformation with pool dye… but nope. 👀

It’s all part of the cleanup process:

Time for an Orange Pool update visit 🍊💦

After all the crazy color and buildup we’ve dealt with at this pool, we came back to clean up what settled out and finish things off with a satisfying vacuum to waste.

This visit included:

✔️ Vacuuming settled debris directly to waste
✔️ Removing dirt without sending it through the filter
✔️ Cleaning up the pool floor
✔️ Brushing any remaining buildup
✔️ Checking water clarity and circulation
✔️ Getting everything looking clear and clean again

Nothing beats watching those clean vacuum lines appear across the bottom of the pool 😮‍💨

The infamous Orange Pool is looking a whole lot better now — clear, clean, and back under control. 💎💦

The pool’s tummy is rumbling again 😂💨

We’re blowing out the main drain as part of the pool winterization process, and all that air pushing through the plumbing creates a massive rush of bubbles across the surface.

It looks crazy, but this is an important part of properly closing an inground pool for winter.

Our process includes:

✔️ Blowing air through the main drain line
✔️ Forcing remaining water out of the plumbing
✔️ Creating an air lock to help protect the line
✔️ Checking for a strong, consistent bubble pattern
✔️ Securing the system for freezing temperatures
