Tax Preparation Tea

If you pay your tax preparer out of your refund make sure you get an itemized invoice before you sign any documents, especially the 8879. If your preparer refuses to give you an itemized invoice that’s a Red Flag 🚩

Do not say no one told y’all.

And another thing...
YES A TAX RETURN CAN LEGALLY COST $1,000+

NO THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT A SCAM

Before you get loud and wrong, let’s be clear 🗣️

The IRS does NOT cap tax preparation fees
❌ There is no law saying a return must cost $200, $300, or what someone else paid last year.

Tax preparation fees are based on:

🚨 TAX SEASON UPDATE – PLEASE READ 🚨

The IRS has officially announced that they will begin accepting tax returns on January 26, 2026 🗓️

⚠️ Important Refund Notice:
If your refund includes the Earned Income Credit (EIC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), the IRS is required by law to hold those refunds until mid-February.

👉 What does that mean for you?
• Your return can still be filed early
• BUT your refund will likely be released late February to early March
• This delay only applies to refunds that include those credits
