1,000 touches doesn’t automatically make you better. ⚽️

It’s the quality of those touches that matters.

Receiving with purpose. Scanning before the ball arrives. Using both feet. Making decisions under pressure.

⚽ MORE THAN TRAINING. A DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY.

At WVSC, our Pod Trainings aren’t designed to simply put players through drills for 10 sessions.

We’re evaluating and developing at the same time.

Throughout each training block, our coaches follow a structured development process:

📋 ASSESS — Identify each player’s strengths and development priorities.

⚽ TRAIN — Build focused sessions around what those players actually need.

📈 TRACK — Monitor progress throughout the training block.

📝 EVALUATE — Review development and identify where improvement has been made.

⬆️ ADVANCE — Give recommendations for what that player should focus on next.

This allows us to do more than coach the player standing in front of us that day. It helps us understand where they are, what they need, and where they should go next.

10 sessions. Individual feedback. Measurable development. A clear next step.

That’s the WVSC development pathway. ⚽

⚽ MEET CHASE KELLEY

Chase is currently an active player with FC Alliance South, bringing a player’s perspective and plenty of energy to our training environment.

And if you’ve seen Chase with the ball at his feet, you already know… ankles may be at risk. ⚠️

His technical ability, creativity, and love for the game make him a great addition to WVSC. Chase will assist and lead select Pod Trainings, demonstrate skills, compete alongside our players, and help create an environment where young athletes can learn while having fun.

Having someone who is still actively playing gives our younger athletes somebody they can relate to, compete against, and learn from.

We’re excited to have Chase helping us develop the next generation of players! ⚽🔥

⚽ MEET COACH AJ

Meet Aj Mcmanus, Boys Head Coach at FC Alliance East and one of the coaches behind WVSC!

Coach Aj holds his U.S. Soccer D License and brings a strong understanding of player development and knows the importance of challenging players while keeping training focused, competitive, and enjoyable.

At WVSC, Coach AJ will work closely with players in our Pod Training environment, where the small group setting allows him to identify individual needs, provide more direct feedback, and help each player build confidence with the ball.

We’re excited to have Coach AJ helping us provide more development opportunities for players in our area!

⚽ Small groups. Individual attention. Better development.

⚽ MEET COACH AUSTIN

Austin Bailey is the Girls Head Coach at FC Alliance East and one of the coaches behind WVSC.

Austin’s approach to player development starts with building a strong technical foundation. Rather than rushing young players into advanced concepts, he believes players first need to become confident and comfortable with the ball at their feet.

Through WVSC, Austin’s goal is to give players more individual attention, more meaningful repetitions, and an environment where they can be challenged while continuing to enjoy the game.

Build the foundation. Develop the player. ⚽

⚽ MEET THE COACHES BEHIND WVSC

The people behind the training matter just as much as the training itself.

At WVSC, our goal is to give players an environment where they can develop technically, build confidence, and be challenged while still enjoying the game.

Over the next few posts, we want to introduce you to the coaches who will be working with our players and tell you a little more about the experience each one brings to WVSC.

Aj Mcmanus- Boys Head Coach, FC Alliance East

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!👇

⚽ ARE WE TRAINING PLAYERS TOO ADVANCED, TOO SOON?

Sometimes we get so focused on teaching young players the next thing that we skip the foundation.

We want them crossing balls into the box, finishing chances, making advanced passes and defending perfectly…

But can they comfortably control the ball first?

A player struggling with their first touch is going to struggle to create a quality shot. A player uncomfortable with the ball at their feet is going to have a difficult time making the right pass under pressure.

Especially at the younger ages, development starts with the basics:
First touch. Ball control. Footwork. Passing. Confidence on the ball.

There’s absolutely a time to teach the more advanced parts of the game, but those skills become much easier to develop when the foundation is already there.

Build the player first. Then build the game. ⚽
