Big News!

Totally Normal Fungus is now a non-profit organization! Our mission is the same- to empower individuals and organizations with accessible mycology solutions for promotion of environmental and community health- but some of our products and services have changed.

Additionally, we will no longer be engaging with Facebook. Our page will stay up so you can find our most up to date contact information, but we will be communicating through our website at totallynormalenterprises.com going forward. We will keep the website updated with upcoming events, and you can hear from us by subscribing to our mailing lists. To contact us, feel free to reach out at [email protected].

We will also continue to offer classes to the public, so reach out to us if you want to attend a class! We are able to provide free classes and resources thanks to support from the community. If you would like to support our mission, see the "Donate" link on our website.

Mushrooms might seem more like plants at first glance, but they're actually more similar to animals in some important ways. While plants make their own food using sunlight, mushrooms don't have chlorophyll and can't do this. Instead, they feed on organic matter in their surroundings, a lot like how animals get their nutrients from what they eat. They're also genetically closer to animals in some aspects, such as having chitin in their cell walls (similar to what insects have) rather than cellulose like in plants.
