We are currently working on refrigerator organizing and optimizing for a grandparents house with dogs and grandkids.
Absolutely! Here’s how you can optimize your fridge to make it easier to access food for you both, the dogs, and guests like grandkids — while keeping things tidy and safe.
---
🧊 Fridge Optimization Plan:
1. Top Shelf – Beverages & Ready-to-Eat
Keep milk, water bottles, and juice here as it's the coldest part and easiest to access.
Add a lazy Susan or small bin for grab-and-go drinks (juice boxes for grandkids, flavored waters, etc.).
2. Second Shelf – Leftovers & Meal Prep
Use clear bins labeled “Leftovers” and “Quick Meals” to keep track.
Consider using stackable containers to save space.
3. Middle Shelf – Snacks, Fruit, & Dog Items
Use a bin labeled “Snacks & Fruit” for apples, grapes, etc. for the grandkids.
Store any dog-safe cooked meat or special food in a clearly labeled bin (keep sealed to avoid smell spreading).
4. Lower Shelf – Deli Meats, Eggs, Cheeses
Designate one side for cheese and deli meats (stackable deli drawers work great here).
Put eggs in their own container or keep in original if used quickly.
5. Crisper Drawers – Produce
Left drawer: Veggies (label it).
Right drawer: Fruits (label it).
Consider a humidity setting check on each drawer for optimal freshness.
6. Bottom Drawer – Bulk Items or Meat
Store any raw meat, bulk cheese, or vacuum-sealed freezer packs here. Keep this drawer organized with baskets if possible.

🚪Fridge Door Optimization:
Top Door Shelf
Butter, margarine, or small condiments.
Middle Door Shelf
Condiments: Group by type (e.g., sauces, dressings, jams).
Use small baskets to prevent bottles from tipping over.
Bottom Door Shelf
Drinks, cooking sauces, and larger condiments.
Consider keeping a small section for dog supplements or meds, if used daily.

🐾 Dog Food Notes:
If you keep homemade dog food or supplements in the fridge, consider a separate labeled bin. Store it low (bottom shelf or drawer) to avoid cross-contamination.
---
🧒 For Grandkids:
Keep kid-friendly snacks like string cheese, yogurt, and fruit cups in a clear bin at their eye level.
Add a fridge magnet or label just for them to make them feel special.
