Went out to diagnose a car that wouldn’t move after shifting out of park. Come to find out it has a dual clutch. Also know as “automatically shifted manual transmission”. Pretty cool. Drive like a manual, but you don’t have to shift.

This client requested plugs and wires with an oil change.

Client’s car would not run. Come to find out the timing chain had too much slack and it was out of time. Big time problem in Kia and Hyundai. Their 1.8 and 2.4l are not good engines, but the rest of the car is quality.

Did this in the client’s driveway.

Saved a client $500 last week. Another shop recommended brakes. It didn’t need them.

So bad with social media. Had to put some new legs on the work truck. Was able to get a great deal off RockAuto. 3/4 the price of dealer.

Rides like a brand new 300k mile truck now.

Local dodge dealership lied about a client needed repairs. They stated the brakes were worn out and unsafe. Paperwork states at 2mm of pad life. Fronts were 4mm (another 5-10k miles of driving), and rear at 6mm (another 15-20k miles). As you can see, they are not. So this customer didn’t drive their car for three weeks so they could save up the money to repair the brakes.

I also have at least two hours invested in this with getting the parts, going to the CLIENT’s house, and starting the work and then having to put it back together because it didn’t need it. No expense to the client of course.

It’s people like this that give us all a bad rep. One bad apple spoils the bunch.

I repaired the heat in a Lexus GX460. It was stuck on cold. Lexus quoted $3400, I quoted $1600, and when it was all said and done, I was able to do the repair for $980. The way Lexus sells the part, they want you to pull the whole dash. We were able to circumvent dash removal, replace the part, and still offer the 3 year or 36k mile warranty.

These actuators move doors in the a/c box behind the dash. Depending on the options, could have 5 or more. Sometimes they just quit.

Back in the day, it was the lever you moved left to right that had a cable attached to it.

Late Saturday night repair. Make sure to double check which fluid you are draining before you let it out. Client drained the transmission fluid instead of oil. So we filled transmission back up and did the oil change while we were there. Not a fan of working under the lights.

But now Sara and I have chips and salsa and queso!!

Currently at the Hurst Lowes working in the parking lot. If your car is making funny grinding noises, it would be in the best interest of all parties to get those checked out. In this case, the gentleman drove until the brake pads were no more and missing. The caliper piston that pushes on the brake pad to stop, came completely out and all the brake fluid fell out. Luckily, he did not wreck or hurt himself or anybody else. This is one reason why the safety portion of the state inspection was so important. People out here driving around with ball tires no brakes no lights.

PS: if someone wants to bring me some tacos, I wouldn’t be mad about

Resealed a heat exchanger/valley plate on a 4.6l tundra yesterday. Known issues with these engines. Was able to save the client $800-1000.

Please call us with any repairs recommended by another shop and we will verify it’s needed, and give you an estimate.
