What is the most lasting impact a leader can leave behind long after a project ends, a role changes, or a career concludes? It is not the metrics achieved or the targets met, but the quiet, enduring memory of human kindness offered when someone needed it most.

There is an employee out there who still thinks of you because you were kind to them. Never stop being that leader. In the high-pressure world of business, we often underestimate how deeply our words, empathy, and grace resonate with others. A simple gesture of support during a personal struggle, a moment of patience when a mistake was made, or a genuine belief in someone’s potential can alter the entire trajectory of their life and career.

Titles are temporary, and achievements fade, but the way you make people feel stays with them forever. True leadership is about leaving people better than you found them. When you lead with heart, you build more than just successful teams—you build a legacy of dignity, trust, and connection that ripples across years and distance. Never doubt the quiet power of your compassion.

Your metrics fade, but your kindness endures. Be the leader someone looks back on with profound gratitude.

Don’t Lose Your Voice as a Leader

I use AI every day and I think it is an incredibly powerful tool.

But there is something I have started to notice in my work with leaders.

People are starting to lose their voice.

An email comes through that is perfectly written, perfectly structured and says all the right things. The problem is, it doesn’t sound anything like the person who sent it.

And that matters.

Your voice is part of what made you the leader you are. How you talk to people, how you give feedback, how you solve problems, how direct you are, your sense of humor and even the things that may not come out perfectly.

Those things are you.

I absolutely think leaders should use AI.

Use it to help organize your thoughts. Use it to research. Use it to prepare for a difficult conversation. Use it to poke holes in your thinking. Use it to make administrative work easier. And yes, use it to help clean up something you wrote.

But don't ask it to become you.

One of the things I find myself saying more and more when I am helping someone with an email, a difficult conversation or even feedback to an employee is:

“That may be the right message, but does it sound like you?”

If the answer is no, change it.

AI can make you a better and more efficient leader. It shouldn't make you sound like every other leader using AI.

Use the tool. Keep your voice.
