A customer (who is really awesome) attempted to service this mixer themselves. I applaud the effort! Unfortunately, a bushing was mis-aligned when reassembled and did some considerable damage. No judgement. This is an easy mistake to make. But it was costly. They are deciding what to do with the mixer (rebuild or part it out and buy something different).

These are my favorite "Whirlpool-era" mixers (after the 1986 sale from Hobart to Whirlpool). It's a Professional 6000 HD. It has the same exact motor and gears from the Commercial 8qt (the biggest in the residential line). If you are a serious baker, this is a heck of an investment. Interestingly enough, these do not command a premium on the used market. That Tulip Bowl....so nice.

The Raspberry Ice Artisan Design is off to its new owner! This is a rare color - often sought after by collectors. The "Design" signifies the glass bowl.

Cottage Baker's Pro 6: this particular mixer came with a plastic gear housing which is prone to cracking. Fortunately, this particular mixer only experienced a small crack along the base. Sometimes, they can have a catastrophic failure, causing the gears to shift and become damaged. I had a donor machine with the metal housing, but the bushing was missing, so I added one...problem! It was too long and prevented the attachment gear from going in. No problem for the Dremel tool! Just make sure you cut it before it goes in...much easier. And clean clean clean so that metal shavings don't end up in the gears.

Got the pedestal replacement and this French Blue Artisan is ready to go back to its owner.

Cottage Baker's Pro 6: This mixer had some crazy surges at different speeds and even shut-down while on Speed 6. Pretty common failure: Speed Control Board (I'm thankful KitchenAid makes the names so obvious too!)
