A team says they value transparency.
But when conflict arises, decisions get made behind closed doors.

The result? Confusion, resentment, and a growing gap between what’s said and what’s done.

This is why values alone aren’t enough.
We need intentional strategies—like shared decision-making processes or clear feedback loops—to live those values consistently, even when it’s hard.

That’s how trust is built.
Not just through what we believe, but how we act on it.

A few years ago, we worked with a team that was completely stuck.
Miscommunications kept happening.
Expectations weren’t clear.

When new folks joined, they had no idea how things actually worked—not the policies, but the human stuff:
How do we make decisions?
How do we navigate conflict?
Who holds what kind of power?

They didn’t need a new mission statement.
They needed a shared playbook.

That’s why we created the Collaboration Manual—a free, fill-in-the-blanks guide to help you turn the invisible rules of your organization into clear agreements.

āœ”ļø Great for onboarding
āœ”ļø Helps reduce team tension
āœ”ļø Grows with your organization

A team says they believe in equity.
They post about it. Add it to the mission statement. Say all the right things.

But when someone asks, "What does equity look like in our hiring process?"
There’s a pause. A scramble. Silence.

This is the gap Tamila’s talking about—the space between what we say and what we do, know, and can explain.

Values don’t mean much if we can’t carry them into hard conversations, decisions, and shared understanding.

The work is closing that gap—together.

šŸ”Š Conflict isn't the problem--it's how we show up for it.

What does it mean to be accountable in conflict?

Most of us were never taught how to stay grounded when things get tense.
Conflict is a chance to build clarity, deepen trust, and realign with our values but only if we’re willing to stay present and engaged.
