Fountain and F***y Galloway Jarrell are my 3rd great grandparents. Their son, Ellis, is my ancestor, through his daughter, Rebecca, who married William Martin Bobbitt. Their daughter, Mary, married Frank Coalson and their son, Charlie, is my dad.
Fountain and F***y had a son, Rufus, who had a son, Ben, and that is where the famous fiddler, Tommy Jarrell comes in. Rufus's son, Fred, was dad to Kester and Norris.
Fountain and F***y's son, Sid, was dad to Lola, Porter, Osler, Arlan, Emogene, Clellan, Josie, etc.
Fountain and F***y's son, Albert, had a son, Joe, who had a son, Ben, who was dad to Eric, Joe, Frank, Alene, Claudine, etc.
I believe all three of these sons--Albert, Ellis, Rufus--served during the Civil War in units from VA and NC. Ellis's civil war diary is in the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. I can share photo copies here, but it is very hard to read. The original is faded.
There are other children, so many stories, and so many connections. Let's build on them. Denise and I want to put together a family reunion some time this year. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Maybe we could even arrange to visit the cemeteries where they're all buried--or as many as we can fit in. I look forward to all the connections we'll find.
