Under the FAA’s proposed UAFR framework, Remote ID sensing is a key part of the eligibility requirements for critical infrastructure facilities.
Applicants must show they already have protective security measures in place before the FAA will process a request — including the capability to receive and log Remote ID broadcasts from drones operating nearby.
The proposed application also looks backward, calling for up to 24 months of available drone-activity history.
Although the framework is still proposed, starting now gives critical infrastructure operators time to establish Remote ID sensing, understand and document drone activity around their facilities, and begin assembling information that may support a future application.
